ದೂರವಾಣಿ ವಿನಿಮಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರ.
Love it! It looks so fun! I am, however, going to be that guy… I saw one fire extinguisher in the walk through. With as much electronics and motors as there is in there I’d be very worried about fire. Is there a suppression system built into the museum? I absolutely love the semi-controlled chaos and jumbled nature of the place. Would be magical for a kid to explore. Alas, it doesn’t look as though I would be able to get in there with my walker very well. When you expand please keep wheelchairs and other mobility issues in mind. I am very happy this exists as it is, would be even better with more space.
How would the off hook tone sound like? May you please do a video on the off hook tone? Thank you.
If you pick up the phone and don't dial out and leave it off the hook for a long time, does these type of switches sound an alarm through the Telephone receiver?
Welcome to your interface with the general public - they could break a ball bearing….😂
Great informative video of a bygone era. You could probably do all that with an Arduino Pro Mini these days but it's fantastic to see the electro-mechanical solutions of the day. :)
Dim7 chords sound so good on a pipe organ. J. S. Bach knew! 🎹
Is there anything available today which has that lovely analogue pitch drift which gave the SQ10 so much character?
Wow.
Well done! Good to see there have been many changes since my visit last year. I must go again.
Very nice stuff Sam ! I love the bouncing ball simulator 😀😃
Mitch is the ONE❤
it's great how much of the collection you've made playable! I definitely need to make a visit soon. if I turned up with a zoom recorder to record any cool noises, what's your thoughts on using the recordings and copyright and whatever? keep up the great work.
Archaeologists are gonna be F**king confused when they dig this place up
See you next Tuesday? Cheeky!!
Thanks for the tour. I wonder how long one would have to spend in the museum to experience everything.
Oh wow using the oscillation to trigger the bells is genius! Very cool.
QR codes next to exhibits would be delightful - no doubt you could get volunteers from youtube to pull together web page content for different exhibits for you, if you asked during each video - a wiki-type effort for your community
definitely! however i have always felt a bit iffy about QR codes. i still dont know how to use them, and not everyone has a smart phone or wants it, strikes me as an added complication the modern age has thrown at us :D. like apps for everything haha
Me and my husband had a ball there a couple of weeks ago. We were there for 2-3 hours and still didn't try everything! And Ramsgate is a lovely little town. It's a bit off the beaten track for visitors from America, but not hard to get to and well worth the trip. Thank you for putting together such a cool hands-on technology museum!
waheyyy! nice one
🤩
THIS SOUND REALLY GOOFY Through Effects lolz although. THE REVERB sounds Like a Fantasy movie
That is awesome!! Quick question though, can the Strowger/UAX13 exchange call out to the PBX/PABX's or only PBX/PABX's to the exchange/UAX13?
yes it can. right now its not wirwed in but it was wired to before we moved the uax13 around, ill do a video on that when i wire it back in
I have to make it there one day.
Anyone know of a similar museum in Australia?
Superb stuff!
I think we have the same theremin! i lost my power cable in a move tho and it's a weird XLR-lookin plug you cant get easily any more I also can't play lmao
Maybe a printout of default patching / settings could be posted near someone of the synths. I came to the museum last summer and struggled to get a few of them making a noise.
@ 13:25 - sounds like the quiet bit "In the court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson. Cracking museum Sam.
You are right! 🎶
Thanks Sam, for that tour! A lot of work has gone in to that! Fascinating! Thanks for that video!
This is so impressive. Please keep it open FOREVER!
we will keep it open for as long as people keep coming. if people dont come things like this dont last.
Brilliant!
Oooo been waiting for a recent walkthrough! Ty! ❤ Visit if I could!
1:31 I play guitar so the one on the wall caught my eyes. Why does it have so many knobs? They can't all be for tone and volume, right?
What is your take on people who might get upset that a piece of vintage hardware has been modified instead of restored and preserved? Honestly, when I see all those original Game Boys on the wall, I kind of feel that. But then I look at what you've done with them and that feeling goes away immediately. But there are people who would be absolutely against it. They think something like that should be restored back to its original working order and if it can't be, it should be used for parts to restore another one. Have you had anyone react that way and what do you say to them?
Nobody could call you lazy. You’re still a young man and you’ve already lived enough for several lifetimes.
Does your Big Mouth Billy Bass (7:00) work? Don't Worry, Be Happy!
i have no idea. i think it works sometimes.
the googol counter must resume counting towards a googol
You're either a time traveller or you're actually de-ageing. Why do you look so young?
all the magic smoke he’s released from vintage electronics, no doubt!
❤
Perhaps cut a bunch of small triangles from colored electrical tape and stick them to the knobs of the synths to indicate a "default" configuration. This way it's easy to come back to default after previous person has experimented to unusable settings. Actually, the usual electronics online stores carry such sticker sheets for PCB diagnosis marking, look for PARW125-YEL.
Great work Sam, please keep up the madness. I'd love to visit, but a 5-6 hour round trip just isn't realistic. Keep up the good work Sir! 🙂😎🤓❤
I needed to see this before I went...there are so many things there, that this video showed me new stuff that I walked by and didn't even realize was there! I guess I need to make another trip out.
You have created a fantastic museum Sam!
Your electricity bill must be enormous..... Nice to see how far it went.
it was last year when the electricity went through the roof! now a days it is about 100 quid a month. so not too bad!
ironically the things that use the most energy are the computers.
Looks great y'all (=
I love how much the museum has changed and yet it is still the same. When I visited it, it was a happy sonic chaos, I loved it.
:D
When can i move in ? 😆👍
it would be cool having a vr or those 360 degree view things
Looks amazing. All the work you've put in over the years is paying off in this great space. When you say you're expanding the Organ Room, is that going to require you to dismantle the pipes you worked so hard to get setup and working or are those walls staying as they are and you're expanding where the Teletubby wall is?
For the instruments and synths etc with loads of knobs, it could be useful to set them up so they're doing something decent, then take a pic of all the knobs as a baseline state and put a print out above the machine with a note for visitors, something like "If this machine isn't working very well, try these knob positions to get started" ?
