Join us on a captivating journey to Kom Ombo, one of Egypt's most unique temples, dedicated to two Gods, Sobek and Haroeris, and its unique design reflects the duality of these Gods. Sobek was the crocodile God of fertility and protection, while Haroeris was the falcon-headed God of healing.
Nestled along the banks of the Nile, this ancient marvel is thought to have been used as a clinic or pharmacy, and some evidence suggests it may have had a birthing house. The temple’s back wall features a relief of surgical instruments, which is considered one of the earliest depictions of medical and surgical tools. The instruments include scalpels, forceps, scissors, curettes, specula, medicine bottles, and prescriptions. The relief also shows two goddesses sitting on birthing chairs.
