KALW 91.7 FM - San Francisco - "All We Need is One"
"All we need is one!" It's the last day of KALW's spring fundraising drive. Only $24,000 to go. Damien D Minor, is our host/connector. Ashleyanne Krigbaum is our community guest/expert. And GoalBusters' Jim Anderson is producing this pledge break. He is also the "closer." This was impromptu. We did not rehearse. Granted, Damien and I had worked together for most of the past two weeks.

GoalBusters implements concepts from Malcolm Gladwell's book the "The Tipping Point" during our multi-person, pledge breaks. In order to create a social epidemic or a really good three-person pledge break, you need a connector, expert/maven and a closer.
1. The connector is known and trusted by the person you are trying to motivate to action. This is generally the regular program host.
2. The maven or expert is the person who knows the most about the subject, the program or event. This can be station staff, or a community guest, but they are making the best "case for support.."
3. The closer brings everything together that the connector and expert have shared and directly asks for support.

Even that whistle is enough to make me remember to be glad to liveo n the other side of the continent that inhabits jaguars/panthers (panthers are just a subspecies of black jaguars). No videos of fully gorwn burley men drivingly slowly around a corner in the jungle on a motorbike and getting snatched by an unseen jaguar just to hear screamign and crunching. Funfact: Did you know they have the strongest biteforce from any big cats? Did you know that is enough force to break a human skull with a single bite? I mean crush is possible, but dependso n the angle of attack, puncture or fracture is no problem at all tho, afterall they are known to make rather big holes into caiman and crocodile skulls with a single bite, whose skulls are 5cm thick at the cranium, with thick skin and scales on top. So yeah just a lil remidner to be grateful you don't have to worry about getting instantly game overed by a jaguar or panther where you usually stroll around. xoxo
