zhlédnutí 170Před 3 měsíci
An exciting ride with Flying Monkeys ADV Riders. My first ride ever in wet, muddy off road conditions, definitely a trial by fire day with plenty of lessons to learn. With the number lesson is to wear proper wet weather gear. #adventurebike #advlife #ktm890adventurer # #explore #wetweather #raining #mudoffroading #muddyadventures

Rode Motero wash, Goat Canyon Truck Trail and Jojoba Wash near Ocotillo Wells. Still getting used to riding in sand but this route was definitely a good way to learn. Followed @Trailsoffroad route on Goat Canyon Truck Trail a "Red" difficulty rated Jeep trail and sure was on big ADV bikes. Rode with a group on KTM 1290, 890, 690 and Husky 701 with @RancidVandall.

How are the front axles coping with the front diff locks?
Still running strong. 4.9 re-gear from the Sport model.
@@ricerupert Good to know, thanks for replying.
Bravo !
Interesting suspension
Bring your young, old ass out to TX so we can get the crew out and ride
When my dad got to old to ride, he parked his Harley next to his bed and there it stayed
I hate leaving things, old age.. 👴
9 minutes in and am already wishing I was on the ride! 🏍💨
Awesome ride but exhausting...lol
2 questions. First, what rockslides did you use, and second, what roof rack did you use? Thank you!
Rocksliders are from TRE off road for a Toyota Tacoma, weld on. Roof rack is Curt brand. Thank for asking.
What did you need to modify up front on the carrier? I heard some slight modifications are needed for our vehicles. Mine is the gen 2.5
No modifications direct swap from a Montero Sport with 4.9 gears, however I did add manual locking hubs as it becomes AWD.
Slimy & snotty..
Looks slippery, nice video.
Nice.
Nice work!!
Это поджеро 4м40 или бензин
Well done guys ,,, Brilliant
Which lockers used?
TRE air lockers on front, factory rear. 4.9 gears from a Montero Sport.
Mitsubishi montero ❤❤❤ Tank 💪💪💪
Epic Ride 😎👊🏻🏍️
.. Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .
That was a great time riding! Let’s ride again when you’re back!
For sure had a blast!
What gps map software you using?

Looks like a pretty fun trail.
I live in north county SD and this is one of my go-to spots. These trails are fun to go fast on, but be careful of that truck (or car!) around the bend.
Way to go, keep getting back up on that horse! :)
Nice ride vid, thanks!
Thank you
Nice vid! Got a '21 890 R and love it. Little quirky, not as reliable as the Japanese stuff, but still a great bike. I need to get out on it more.
I've had some of the annoying quirks but this bike rips...lol
@@ricerupert Yup! I'm returning to dirtbiking after, literally, not riding dirt in 30 years (my old '91 KX500 - though I've been riding sportbikes the whole time). This bike is WAY better than I am at this point, but, that's ok, I can grow into it. It's already saved my ass a number of times! I'm 6'1"/220lbs and I haven't touched the suspension, works fine for me, even on the faster stuff. Got hard and soft luggage for it as needed, and it's a great package overall. Getting a custom Sargent seat (like on my 'RR) was an absolute GAME-CHANGER. The OEM seat was the worst I've ever been on, on any motorcycle. If you could only have one bike, this would be an excellent choice! Does everything pretty well, and is excellent on the dirt. Just got back from my ABQ to Bear Lake UT ride on my S1000RR a couple weeks ago. 1,850mi in 5 days of riding, as much twisties as I could find. Now it's time to do another KTM ride. Ride safe!
What kind of roof racks and tires are those? I have a bare stock 1997 montero LS and looking for some starting upgrades
Cheap CURT rack I got off Craigslist. Tires at the time were Patagonia Milestar MT 315/75/16
I love the satisfaction of conquering an obstacle that initially seemed insurmountable.
Great Job man! I’m glad you recorded!
Had blast glad I got to ride with you and the rest the of the group.
Some commentary during the video would be helpful. No way to know what your impressions are.
You're right and I appreciate the input, it's something I have to do on all my videos.
Way to go! Looks like a good group your riding with.
Awesome group to ride with.
Nice ride! Thomas Mountain looked silty and loose there. I always break something riding with the Monkeys haha. 😂
This was my first ride with the Monkeys and despite the falls I had a blast.
the 1st part...rocky downhill then passing truck part...there is a bypass to all that non sense. Surprised No one told any body that
Was definitely a good way learn and build confidence...lol
How did the Raids compare to the RallZ tires?
Off road they don't grip as good compared to the knobbier RallZ, the Raids had that slip then grip feeling when aggressive on the throttle whereas the RallZ would hook up right away. On the video I was running 30 psi F/R.
@@ricerupert The front Dunlop Mission also slips out - on a Tiger 1200 Rally Pro - but it's rigid and doesn't necessarily recover grip, and that is forever disturbing to the point I've been riding way forward; unconvinced that is such an ideal off road position!?
@@ADVrainORshineyou need to keep in mind that that tire has an extremely stiff carcass/sidewalls and they can benefit from airing down, a lot. They're also a hard compound which doesn't help but makes them awesome longevity wise. Having your suspension setup correctly also helps. Be blessed and ride safe! ✌️
Front tre e locker?? Rear oem?
Correct
Buen carro,me gusta mucho yo quisiera tener uno como este y es a todos terreno genial.👍❤️🇨🇱
Are you running with no muffler?
Previous owner had custom aftermarket installed and has an exhuast leak...lol
That exhaust sounds pretty nice. Very strong growl and loud.
Dude you almost flipped there! 0:05
It was butt pucker for sure...lol
What size lift do you have on your Montero?
2 inch OME springs Biliestien 5100 meduim travel shocks from Adventure Driven Design 2 inch Body lift OME torsion bars cranked to match the rear height.
@@ricerupert where did you get them at?

Lindo carro
what front grille and roof basket is that? I just got a 1997 sr myself and like the look of those.
That is a the factory bull bar, roof rack is a curt brand. Enjoy your '97 SR it's a beast; if you look at my recent videos, my Montero has been built up since this video with 320k on the original motor.
@@ricerupert wow nice! mine has 260k. What kind of essential maintenance have you needed to do? have to had an issues with the driver side window not rolling down? or the compass/temp gauge backlight not working?
@@HDBrizzy I've had replace the driver side window motor once but it does struggle to go up when I don't lube it, I think has to do with the old glass rubber guide. As far maintenance, just regular maintenance but make sure you change your water pump and timing belt if you haven't already.
@@ricerupert TB and water pump are next on my list, not sure if PO did it. Its leaking oil from the valve covers so plan on doing that at the same time. I noticed i didnt hear the valve tick from yours. have you done the VLAs and valve stem seals?
Did you get the lockers from a US distributor or have to order them overseas?
Got mine from a Montero FB member who had them, however on FB you just message TRE themselves.
Are parts hard to find for these?
Unfortunately yes for aftermarket parts performance but the online social community is big on help.
Mitsubishi Pajero not, Montero.
In the U.S. market it's a montero
Also the shogun in the uk. Plus about a thousand different names in china
