Christ Jesus said, "The WORDS I have spoken to you (Apostles) are SPIRITUAL (not literal), the Spirit gives LIFE, the Flesh profits NOTHING. (ref. John 6:63). Therefore, what Christ said, "SELL your Garment/Cloak and BUY yourself a SWORD" (ref. Luke 22:36), has a SPIRITUAL meaning/implication. The English word "SELL," spiritually means to forget, change, remove, replace, etc... The English word "GARMENT/COAK/ROBE," spiritually symbolizes Human Status/Stature/Position/Rank/Designation/Sinful Way of Life... The English word "BUY," spiritually means to Profit, Gain, or Acquire (Spiritual Knowledge) The English word "SWORD," spiritually means the WORD of God (Written Holy Scriptures) sharper than the 2 Edged SWORD (ref. Hebs. 4:12). Therefore, the Literal meaning/implication would be... Forget/Replace your Human Status/Stature (sinful life) and Acquire/Gain the Spiritual Knowledge of the WORD of GOD... Best video on the subject I have heard. Another interpretaion I think I will go with is the greek word machaira can be translated as small knife/dagger. If your in a survival situation this is a must need tool. I carry my pen knife with me for foraging many people carried knives back then for work.

A shepherd is capable of protecting his flock. An act of self-defense or defense of others is greatly different than an act of aggression of outward malice. The soldiers had NO intention of harming Jesus just to bring him to Pilot and the Pharisees. It does prove one’s virtue when the ungodly see that you’re a deadly threat but instead you use love, compassion and mercy, they gain respect for you and what you’re saying. A wolf of the world will never listen to a lamb, but can be persuaded by a sheepdog to live in peace..

Would love to see your paper on baptism. I’ve been in a conversation with some seekers who have trouble with examples in Acts where it seems hearers/believers “receive” the Holy Spirit before being baptized (Cornelius household, disciples in Acts 8) or they don’t receive the Holy Spirit after baptism only when they are prayed for by the apostles (the group of disciples with Simon the sorcerer). I’m one to believe God can do whatever He wants and has always made exceptions, but it definitely makes a clear cut answer hard sometimes

There is often a heavy atmosphere among Christians but I think it could be the disconnect between being in the world and being in the Kingdom. Religion without heart felt connection. Elkanah had a heart connection to God so he still went.

Amem brother, He's saying take a money bag, sword, and whatever else bc it was the HOUR of darkness, UNTIL all be fulfilled. Too many Christians take this passage to fit their own carnal nature in wanting to take arms today, but it's not the Lord's will. He is with us and His will be done. After the hour of darkness, you NEVER see anywhere else where they took or needed swords. Amen

To be still as Exodus 14:14 commands."The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” It's very hard to do as a state of being/surrender to God. It comes down to taking one day at a time.

Jesus had to be counted among the transgressors. During that time there was a Roman law in Jerusalem, that any gathering of 10 or more people, there could only be 1 sword. This was an anti- insurrection law set forth by the Roman's. When Jesus was arrested his group of 12 had 2 swords. Hence he was counted among the transgressors.

David took five stones, a sling, and his faith in the Lord to defeat Goliath. Evidently, David didn’t need any sword, body armor, or shield. Scripture tells us David trained using his tools to defend his flock; killing bear and lion. One, well placed shot, killed(not murdered) Goliath. I believe God wants us to defend ourselves from evil. Scripture also indicates David was NOT “numbered with a transgression” for defending himself, and his people.

This passage can’t be understood without, firstly, rightly dividing scripture (2 Tim 2:15) and secondly, understanding the context in terms of the immediate timeline. Consider Matthew 10:10/Mark 6:8/Luke 9:3. There Jesus commands the opposite. Why? During that time of the ministry the apostles were fulfilling the Great Commission of Matthew 10, which will again be the condition during the Tribulation period when God will provide for the faithful Little Flock’s needs as they go about preaching the good news of the coming kingdom. The 12 will become 144,000 during the future Tribulation and they too will be completely protected until their appointed time for martyrdom (Revelation 7:3-8, 14:1-5) In Luke 22:35-38 Jesus is preparing the 12 for the chaos of the days between the crucifixion and the resurrection when they will have neither Jesus bodily nor yet the comforter of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:16-19) After their 40-day master kingdom seminar taught by the king himself, Jesus tells them to basically lay low in Jerusalem and wait (for 10 days) until they get the Comforter. (Acts 1:4) After the Day of Pentecost, when they are imbued on high with the power of the Holy Spirit, the command apparently of Luke 9:3-also illustrated by the parable in Luke 12:22-is back in effect as the Little flock sells all they have (Acts 2: 42-47, 3:6) and live in divine communism as a foretaste of kingdom conditions for Israel, the nation of priests. Jesus’s three words at the end of Luke 22:38 are said with quiet exasperation as his quote of Old Testament prophecy regarding his imminent death go right over their heads as they focus on only his instructions in verse 36.

More evidence for the literal flood can be found in 1 Peter 4:18-22, mainly in verses 20 and 21. Peter refers directly to the event. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. 19 After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits- 20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand-with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. Thank you Simon.

If we consider the key of St. Peter that compares a day to be as a 1000 years, then we understand why Lazarus needed to be dead for 4 days before he was woken from death. It is because the humanity was literally dead in-between the period of 4000 years from Adam until Jesus.

Why not ask why did God send Jesus so soon.

Amazing Simon! This was a very helpful insight into the Bible story’s timing, and truly the timing of God. Something I would like to look more into, and maybe this is a topic for you to discuss, is ‘what are the end times?’ Something I have thought about recently, is that the end times are simply the later times of one’s life. The end times have never come in history, even though many people thought it did, and as every human reaches their lives end, along the way the generation they grew up in has been overtaking by a seemingly more corrupt, more immoral, and more sinful generation by their understanding. However, sin has been here since Genesis 3. So, the sign of a generation calling another generation worse, is almost like the ‘end times’ of their lives - so the end times are experienced by all; whether born in 1500 or 2023. However, there is a date and time that the Father knows, when Jesus will return - the definitive end, the ‘last day’. What people do not realise is that it doesn’t matter if they are born at a time where they are alive on the last day, or earlier, what matters is that as 1 Corinthians 15 says, no one experiences anything between their death and Christ’s coming, so their last day could be considered the last day, for all that happens after their body dies is not experienced by them until Christ’s return. Anyway, I hope this makes sense, and what a wonderful thing it is to unravel the mystery of the gospel. God bless!

I believe in a young earth. It makes sense to me from the perspective of scripture, vs current science. Seeing as the narration of history was partly oral tradition, I think everything happened in a succinct timeline. I believe dinosaurs existed, and God created them. Perhaps man’s methods of dating the earth could be incorrect? 🤷🏽‍♀️
