I'm a commercial pilot and I do lots of take-offs and landings at numerous airports throughout the USA as well as Canada and Mexico. I have posted a bunch of them, most in HIGH DEF. I also have a Beechcraft that I take friends with from Southern California to different airports. I have put the GOPROs on those trips as well. There is also some Hang-Gliding that I have on my channel from the early 70's that I did back in Hawaii as well as Southern California. I think that you will enjoy subscribing to my channel and get the latest videos that I put up.
Quartzfet 2024

Racoon Defeating the Cage
zhlédnutí 44Před rokem
Video number 3 of a caught Raccoon finding a way to get out of the cage. He makes it look simple however he actually forces the front of the cage to be brought back behind some locks that hold it close but because of the tremendous Torque he puts on that door causes it to be faulty and then he just pushes the front and walks out.... Pretty funny.....

Well, I had a Muffler come lose and ONE BOLT came out from holding it tight and after my second landing you can see as I pull the power back that the muffler comes forward and eats my Prop. I guess I'll have to find another couple of props to be able to fly again.... Enjoy...

Well done Maryanne. They look wonderful. I bet they are pretty tasty and nutritious. Dave W.
Fantastic to see those early soaring flights and top landings on that early kit . A very special time indeed. I loved watching it Tommy Paraglider pilot for 32 years
Awesome video 👍👍
great pilots great plane[]!
Nice captain
What does he say at 12:23 about the root? And why does it need a cooling turbine inlet (12:29)?
Hi there, He doesn't say Root, he says that it is NOT a boot. Boots that are just past the engine actually blow up like a balloon and shed any Icing that may have built up. The black portion that Harlen points to between the engine and the Fuselage DOESN'T blow up an shed any ice.
@@DavethePilot I realize that. Sorry, I meant to say "boot". But actually I mean at 12:21, he says "On a..." then something else. Before he says this is not a boot.
This is such a well done video! I love the MCC here!
These two guys are now living large after only one flight south of the border
Not sure what you mean?
@@DavethePilot it was a joke, you'll figure it out
I have the same garmin in my car
Good detail here. Thank you. I too flew the Merlin IVC and the SA227 many years ago logging about 6,200 hours and 10 years in them. I'm surprised I still have my hearing! When preflighting the door, that tube under the flap at the threshold actually supplies 18 PSI of regulated bleed air to an inflatable door seal. If this tube is kinked or leaking a noisy air leak and some loss of pressurized air will occur. When the handle is closed and so long as the aircraft is pressurized, there is a differential pressure diaphragm that mechanically locks the handle so that it can not be opened in flight.
Thanks for the video cmdr
Hey Dave, i dont know if you'll see this but I'm hoping to work for sierra west next year when I get my CMEL. Luckily I live in El Paso. I would love to talk to you about your time there!
Nice work, guys! Even after this many years, it's good to see something that should never change. A good instructor with an open-minded and receptive student. Thanks
HEY BELOVED PILOTS, HOW ABOUT FLYING INTO THE CORRUPTED LOS ANGELES CITY AND COUNTY BUILDINGS AND BUZZING THEIR UNPATRIOTIC AND UNAMERICAN SELF-SERVING ASSES.???????
I've flown into/out of Del Rio many times. BEST airline terminal in the US: it's the size of a 7-Eleven and you can park right by the front door!
Is this the 2 hours scenic one?
What kind of sunglasses is Harlen wearing?? I really like them
Yep.. spent 4 years in those studios! Thank you for this!! Absolutely amazing trip down memory lane
KYRE Dave!!!! Andy Froiland from KYRE/KSYC.. hope your well man! I remember your hang gliding around the am tower!! Hit me up sometime!
Hi Andy, wow it’s been about 37 years since there at the radio station and yes had a blast flying my glider off of the mountain west of town. I’ve been an Airline Captain for over 30 years having a blast flying all over. What r u up to these days? Funny thing is that from June 7-17th I was up in Medford visiting my sister for her birthday…. See ya my friend
@@DavethePilot I’m doing well, ended up in San Francisco 2001-2011 had an afternoon (5-7 m-f) talk show for about 4 years, one of two conservative talkers back then🤣🤣. Back north about 100 miles south of Yreka in Weaverville. Producing radio programs for churches and pastoring a small community church in Hayfork. My mom lives in Medford now so I do make monthly runs north. Ray Canevari found your video you did on KYRE decades ago.. sooo cool! Glad your still well and alive!
@@andyfroiland7604 Hi there ANDY, check out this CZcams Video, the last time that I went hang gliding and had a blast staying up for a couple of hours and you can see that even after many years of NOT Hang Gliding anymore and just being a Captain flying a $40 Million dollar GULFSTREAM, I still didn't forget how. Here is the YOU TUBE VIDEO for you to check out: czcams.com/video/m7olXHI4lwA/video.htmlfeature=shared
Well done vid. What’s your motor conversion? I just got first flight for the year on a 2 place JPX powered Lazair. I installed 5 engine on a series 2 and put 80 hours on it. Only problem didn’t glide nearly as well.😊🇨🇦👍
Interesting
That’s Peter Harrison’s old Lazair. I recognize the registration.
Hi Todd, Yep, I was bugging Peter for about a year that I would love to buy it when he wants to put it up for sale. We agreed on a price of $6,000 including the trailer. I drove all the way from Long Beach, CA to eastern Canada to pick it up. I had it for two years and had a blast parking it at Corona Airport but the Hanger rent went up to $560 a month and that was just too expensive to justify flying her maybe twice a month. That would be $280 per flight so I sold her. Someone from the Hemet area of California, about 30 miles away make the highest bid on EBAY and actually bought the trailer and the Lazair for $8,000, so I made out. I would have loved to keep her but just too expensive. Any other questions feel free to email me.
@@DavethePilot no other questions. I just noticed the Lazair and your profile picture of the Metro/Merlin. I flew the 3’s and 23’s at Bearskin Airlines in Thunder Bay Ontario. Don’t see many people that have flown both twin engine legends ;)
What is the flight status of the Lazair? Interested in selling?
Watching this in 2023. @ 10:50 you're talking about "Lifetime Membership".. I was one of the Original 30 members way back in the late 80's. Somewhere I had noticed you're @ less than 90 members. Are there any members left from the Beginning days ? I can't even see that Jeff ( Shorty ) is still involved..
Shorty moved up North and started a trucking company and gave the control up to Steve in Oceanside, K6UFX. We now have Allstar all over the world connected in 24/7. As to original members, I became a Lifetime member by donating Apx. $2,000 and flying Shorty and a couple other members out to Catalina to put a repeater up out there back in the middle 2006 I believe. It has since been taken down. You may remember WB6TUG, tugboat Captain Myron. You may remember Hank down in San Diego, W6NXS. You may remember Big Al or maybe Roger and June, long time early insomniacs net controllers , KF6HBU in Sunny San Diego. I was always known since 2001 as Coronado Dave, KG6LYI. Hope that answers a few questions. Oh BTY, a lifetime membership with the WInsystem is only $500 but if you wanted to donate more, no stopping ya. The normal yearly dues to just be a member is basically $10 a month or $120 per year…
@@DavethePilot I was a member for 4-5 years. I've spent time on the San Miguel Mt. site until it came down. I spent time on the Palomar site. I've spent time on the Monument Peak site that is now gone, I've even been on the Santiago Peak site. Hard to believe Shorty "walked away" from the system he put so much into! The good old days is when the system was 5 ( San Diego Co. ) full Duplex Mountain tops linked by 1.2 Ghz Radios. I believe there was a mass exodus just after I left. I've moved on. The little time I spend on a radio these days is spent on DRM. I live on a lower level of Mt. Helix. I have an open view of San Miguel. I can reach Miguel using a dummy load for an Antenna. It was a sad day when the system lost all the SDG&E sites for repeaters. Back then I had fun using the 10 meter Remote Base that was on the Vista site, and the Monument Peak site. The only non-Digital radio I turn on these days is a 6 meter repeater site on San Miguel. I actually helped Shorty build a Head-end for his Cable Business up on Miguel. I nearly lost the Brakes on his Explorer ( ? ) making a run off the Hill to Radio Shack.... Oh well. Have a Great evening. WB6GND ( Gerald) PS the only Ham I keep in touch with from the old days is Karl WB0BMY.
Thanks for the video and I have a lot of hrs in the metro and lots of great memories there. Real flying! I am a captain single pilot and 727 FE ATP & A&P & Flight Instructor

A nice flying career.. Enjoy the blue skies of retirement, cheers from Tahiti
Brings back memories of SkyWest ground school in 1991. Liked the Metro a lot. Pax called it the Terror Tube!
I got to fly it into SGU all the time with Skywest. Man was that a fun ride. Sat behind the pilot and they'd keep the curtain open. Pure heaven!
Just watched your flight. I am picking up two Lazairs in two weeks and will get one flying. Where do you fly from? It appears you use redrives so what engines are you running?
Had the GX200 from Honda and had them really upgraded with lighter items like Aluminum flywheels, etc. I sold mine just a few weeks ago for $8,700. I use to fly out of Corona Airport in Corona California.
Good times Dave.
