    Should the fan blade spin freely while the pump is still connected?

    • @furnacetech2581
      @furnacetech2581 Před 3 dny

      Yes, there should be little resistance or binding. Most burners can be checked by Turning off power and lifting the ignition transformer cover. Spin the fan blade and see if it spins freely. If not, you may have a bad blower or fuel pump. If you replaced the coupling between the fan and fuel pump, be sure to check if it’s the correct length. If it’s too long, it will bind and not spin free!

      Thanks for the reply. Had a child in June and while at the hospital our basement flooded. Had a furnace guy come out. He said the blower motor was still good but he couldn’t check the burner motor because my board fried and he didn’t have that style with him. I did buy a new board and a motor as the old one had froze up. Going to hook it back up tomorrow and give it a try

    Do the F turbinator heads always come off the nozzle assembly so easily? Loosen one screw and give it a wiggle and a pull? Are they all held on by friction alone?

    I have the same attachment foe my ash vac i use on my pellet stove except the bristles are a wire brush instead of plastic. Should work mint for doing my furnace. Isn't there a few other things like adjusting the fuel ratio and checking the co2 being released or something? And also ik you gotta use Chimney Sealant stuff, kinda like mortar around where the exhaust flue meets the actual chimney, also how frequently do i need to clean my actual chimney for my furnace? Idk if ive ever seen my plumber do that, he has however cleaned the exhaust flue that goes from the furnace to the chimney. And last question, also how do you adjust the oxygen ratio and air intake vent? Is there anything you even have to do there and if so how frequently?

    • @furnacetech2581
      @furnacetech2581 Před 3 dny

      Yes, there are many items to check when doing service and repairs. Mortar is perfect for connecting to chimneys for sure, just depends on the application or connections needed. It’s good practice to clean the chimney annually and inspect it for wear. Sometimes you may need to hire a chimney sweep company. Every burner is different when it comes to making air adjustments. Never adjust the air or fuel pressure without a combustion analyzer. Most adjustment locations are on the left or right sides of the burner. You will see makings with numbers which represent the current settings. You can loosen the set screws and slide the air bands or shutters. Make sure to tighten them after you make adjustments to get a good reading on your analyzer and don’t forget to make sure burner covers are in place during testing.

      Thank you for watching and leaving your feedback! Most of our systems use only two wire setups. You can definitely use the common wire! I am sure there are many ways to mount a thermostat. This is just the way I did it for this project!

    • @furnacetech2581
      @furnacetech2581 Před 8 měsíci

      I am not sure exactly what you are referring too. I know the electrodes come in many different designs. Most of the ones I run into, I cut to length or screw them together and then cut off excess. Some I am able to get the exact lengths. I know there is one type that I have come across that pushes together. I am sorry my reply is not much help!

    • @dgmenace73
      @dgmenace73 Před 7 měsíci

      @furnacetech2581 no apology necessary. I appreciate any advice. These electrodes have two lengths of rods that have a metal "coupler" that does push on but its very loose. I figure you're supposed to crimp them to make tighter? The old & new set both have the same "coupler". If this helps any, let me know your thoughts. Thanks

    A question for you about bearing noise. I have a two-year-old furnace, and I'm hearing some pretty bad-bearing noise coming from around the fuel pump. At this point it's intermittent. I thought originally it was coming from the blower motor but upon closer examination, it's coming from around the Motor or the fuel pump. I'm assuming there are several bearings in and around the motor and fuel pump. Which do you think would be most likely to fail after just a couple of years? I've actually had furnaces 10 plus years old and never had bearing issues before, but this noise Is fairly loud and can be heard from 10 feet away.

      @@furnacetech2581I don’t understand the customer won’t know how much fuel is in the tank to order more fuel plus this tank is set on snow when the snow melts the tank will be off pitch. And don’t they have to dig that broken tank up and clean the spill. Are they filling that tank with kerosene or #1 fuel with temperature that low and lower. And with a bottom draw aren’t you going to draw moisture and sludge and possibly plugging the filter

    Does the higher voltage of the igniter improve combustion? Does it tax the ceramic insulation of the electrodes?

    • @furnacetech2581
      @furnacetech2581 Před 8 měsíci

      Stronger spark which help to ignite. The combustion is improved by adjust the fuel and air mixture using combustion tuning equipment. As for the electrodes, not 100% sure and every system is different because the controller may or may not turn off the spark after ignition had been established! I hope this helps!

    Hi there great video . I have a question because it getting cold and my furnace is not working. I have air comming out of the inlet filter on the side of the blow motor . Does this mean the motor is running backwards? The air is comming out of the filter where you adjust the air flow going into the burner head it that makes sense . My burner is a Beckett . I furnace runs but not well . I have changed everything from the control unit , nozzle,new igniter box. I thought the air was supposed to go into the burner head from the side where the adjuster ring goes. Should I change the direction of the blower motor ?

      Yes, it could be stuck open for sure! If there is no power going to the zone valve, you can remove the powerhead and check it. The valve body stem could be stuck too so try rotating the stem too!

    It's been a couple years since I did this, but it would have been nice if they had put a note/warning with the pump that it was full of oil. Made a bit of a mess. I also had to put the pump in a vise and use a breaker bar to get the plug out for the fuel line. Made in France I recall. Has run like silk since putting the CleanCut pump with solenoid to replace the previous.

    Are you in Anchorage? I have six of these at my apartment building, and I've had to have 14 motors replaced in 2 years. Either failure to open or failure to close. The plumber only hooks up the two yellow wires, leaves the red ones disconnected. Could that cause problems?

    Does isolating the valve by turning off supply and return eliminate the system pressure when you pull off the old plate? Thanks for the video

      Yes, if you isolate the supply and return lines, you can slowly loosen the old plate. Place a bag or something to catch the fluid. Take your time because it can have a bit of fluid trapped in the lines.

    As soon as I turn on the boiler there is a call for heat, even though the heating is off at the program box. The hot water works normally just the heating is messed up. Do u think just replacing the metal box would work to fix the heat so it could be called when needed?

    Ive been having trouble with my bekett burner. Ive trouble shooted everything i could think of and cant figure out the issue. My blower fan is not kicking on when i turn on the heat switch. It will kinda of turn on but get stuck then it trips my breaker. Do you think it could possibly be the fuel pump? Or something electrical? When i trouble shoot the motor blower alone without being assembled it works normal but when i place it into the shaft it looks like it gets stuck. Id appreciate the help. Thanks!

    I have just replaced my Honeywell motor head. I must have an older style as there are no screws holding it to the valve body. It is only held on with a wire clip. The issue I’m having is that when the thermostat calls for heat the motor head comes disengaged and does not open the valve. If i put pressure on the motor head towards the valve body it will engage properly.
