Flex Link 12th Car Prototype - Short Insight
The car is V2 of an idea I had on January 11, 2024 while out on a walk. The video is a quick description sent to a friend explaining some basics of the concept. As I like little snips of the "inside" of car development, I decided to share it with others who might be interested.

      I picked a bit of crud in the carb and the bike started running weird at low revs. As it was a hot day, I was wondering if the pilot was too lean and switched back to the factory 45 jet, but that wasn't it and i just cleaned out the carb to get everything back to normal. I left in th 45 and honestly can't really tell the difference now. Starting is similar with both.

      The gearing change is excellent, I'm kind of wondering why the bike isn't like this from factory. My dad now has a Beta Evo with a slightly lower first gear and is quite comparible in low speed maneuvering. Highly recommend chaning the gearing on the GG.

    I have the same bike as you and right after I got it I went to do some trail riding and found out that the bike could easily get away from me with just the slightest throttle change. I was coming down a trail and my hand slipped and opened the throttle and threw me off the bike breaking 6 ribs, my clavicle, punctured my lung and split a six inch full depth gash in my knee. Since then I’ve put on the flywheel weight and the head spacer which helped some but it’s still too quick in 1st when I just want to basically idle slowly around obstacles. My old Yamaha TY 250 was very much smoother. Are you happy with your 10/42 gearing now or do you still want to go lower, maybe to a 9/42? Thanks!😊

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering Před měsícem

      That's a nasty fall! I have a flywheel weight and low compression head on the way, but I've been very happy with the gearing since changing it. I don't think it needs to be lower than the 10/42 now. What I've found is my clutch control has improved and I can easily control the low speed now with the 10/42. The goal with the low compression head is easier starting and smoother running with our lower octane fuel here in Canada.

    Just a heads up, I bought a brand new 2021 TXT 300 a few weeks ago, old stock so picked it up at a great price. Rode it once did, just over an hour, stored it in my garage with the handle bars hard right. Next day I pulled it out and started it up. Little did I know the throttle cable dislodged from the throttle on the handle bars and was resting on the edge, covered by the rubber boot so not visible to me. This effectively set the stop at about 10% throttle on. The engine started and just stared to rev its tits off. Not knowing what was happing , I twisted the throttle closed but didnt help, so pulled the kill switch on the handle bars and the engine didnt stop to my shock. About 10 seconds later the engine seized due to the piston heating up way faster than the cylinder. My dealer has now fixed it under warranty. Takeaway points from my experience The throttle cable is really short The throttle cable just floats at the connection with the throttle tube , I will be lock wiring that in place from now on. Do not rely on the kill switch to work on a 2 stroke, It must have been self igniting. Have a strategy in place so if this runaway engine happens to you , you know what to do in the 10 seconds you have before self destruct. Nigel New Zealand

      Ouch! That’s a harsh start with a new bike. 😢 Before I rode the bike, I went over it carefully. Removing the airbox, wheels, tank and more, I carefully went over electrics and cable routing. Everything was fine, but I’d heard about the throttle potentially being an issue at the throttle body. After carefully going over it, I didn’t find any issues. Also, since I was very young, I always snap the throttle before starting. It has to return effortlessly or I won’t attempt to start. Not sure why I developed this habit, but I’ve found a couple times through the years where I needed to investigate before starting.

    Definitely change the oil!! if you just undo the top plug for the oil and look at the magnet you will see why you want to change it. I did mine after one ride (though you don't seem to ride much id get more hours on mine after one ride then yours has.). id change it quite often while the bike is new as you seem to get plenty of bits in the oil to start with. Im in the uk and my bike has only ever run on 99 octane ( though I think you rate it different then we do)

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering Před 5 měsíci

      I haven’t noticed! Mind you, I’ve only been practicing low speed and maybe had it in 5th 2-3 times. What I have noticed is that shifting is a deliberate effort compared to my other bikes, but I put that down more to the shifting geometry with lever shape an of course how far it is from the footpeg.

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering Před 5 měsíci

      I'm guessing it has to do with switching out of 4th with it's multiple-engaged gears to a significant jump in ratio to 5th. One of the disadvantages of the 4+2 configuration?

    • @ledgledg668
      @ledgledg668 Před 5 měsíci

      @@RC-Engineering I don’t really see it as a massive disadvantage. It’s a trials bike. 1 to 4 are the only gears you would use in a section. (It’s one massive bog if you’ve got up to 4th 🤣😂). Then 5th and 6th are only used on long runs between sections. And once you get the knack of rolling right off the throttle going from 4th to 5th it doesn’t always crunch either. Just most of the time. 🤣😂

    Do they have one where the wheel can rotated for left hand operation- right hand/finger on stick/trigger?

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering Před 6 měsíci

      The Noble radio (regular and Pro) is BOTH left and right. When you take it out of the case the wheel is pointed away in the center and you need to rotate it to the side you want. It's "stiff" to rotate so it doesn't move when using it. It also means that you can adjust the angle you want, being able to offset like other brands need plates to do. When you look under the screen, there is a protractor to show the angle you have it set at to easily set it back at that angle every time. Quite a simple and smart solution :)

    Hi Phil, great to see you on CZcams and thanks for testing this! My last test was with a Sanwa MTS in FH4 1way mode with SSR vs a Noble NB4, and I also found the Sanwa felt a bit more responsive and on high speed video it did react quicker to input, so the Sanwa is lower latency, but they are within 1ms so it's a very minor difference. Looks to be similar moving up generation newer to FH5 protocol on Sanwa vs a Noble Pro. They both got every so slightly more responsive and refined.

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering Před 6 měsíci

      Hi John, much appreciated! While latency is important, there is more to the feel of the controller. How the A-to-D and D-to-A converters handle the info stream is the major influence. Sanwa has typically been a leader in this (explains why many pro drivers that don't have a radio deal choose Sanwa). The purpose of the test was to see if I could detect a difference and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Sanwa is still great but it's also good to see the Noble Pro is a real option, especially at the price of their receivers.

      The ECU has maps it choses based on sensor readings. It also has trims of the parameters in a map, so it can best adapt. The map and trim is adjusted as you ride and not selected instantly meaning it will adapt slowly as you ride. With major changes like intake and exhaust, it will take a while for the ECU to best adapt and will be “caught up” with the mods.

    • @brodydawson6200

    • @RC-Engineering

      That's ECU reprogramming. They are changing the maps to give better performance and target the mods they have made. The stock ECU is mapped around great fuel mileage, but performance often sacrifices fuel mileage. It's about balancing personal priorities.
