@@connorbrooks8141 it's for my own cosplay, but based on the one seen in Dark Phoenix, which is the one Magneto originally took from Shaw in First Class, but with some grime and age added to it
How did you apply the smoothers ? Was it spot putty in specific areas and then entirely covered in uv resin ?
@@alexhetherington8028 I usually sand first, then UV resin the whole thing, repeat etc. On this one I tried the spot puttying the whole helmet to see if it made the finishing easier. It wasn't any better than just rounds of resin, sanding and touching up deeper areas with the putty. With the resin I usually use disposable sponge brushes, and for the spot putty modelling tools
@@BucketheadStudios interesting,I'm just working on ordering a greeblie to be printed for my star wars control panel wall art but I'm afraid to sand it in case I ruin the detail. Sanding is scary on a 3d print ha ha
@@alexhetherington8028 it is, sometimes they don't sand well, especially PLA, but a thin coat of UV resin would probably work well

I keep trying to print a helmet but it ends up shifting part way through
@@tonyedmundson-1907 could be a problem with the g-code, maybe try reslicing the model. Or depending how bad it is, you could fix it afterwards with sanding and filler maybe

For those of us following along at home, the best way to deal with doubled over leather is to scythe it's thickness down with a scything knife. Then wet, bend and press.
Curious! I wouldn’t hit things/duel with it, but is it sturdy enough to swing around and play with?? Looks gorgeous
@@jackmcmahon6964 oh yeah definitely! Very sturdy and well made, excellent fun to swing around. As you say, I wouldn't want to try and hit or cut anything, but absolutely won't fall apart from just playing. It does have a semi sharp blade, and a very sharp point though, so be careful if you do!

I've tried finding the hands online but have had zero luck without paying a lot. Have to settle for alien hands with no talons, so I need to figure that out. But you did an awesome job!

Ah, I recall when you got the WB job and you regretfully said you had to stop making your own work and selling on Etsy because of the job's contract provisions. Very sorry you got mistreated at the job. The same thing has happened to many of us. Good luck in whatever you do going forward.

You should prime with a flexible primer, flexbond or plastidip are popular ones. Plastidip is in a spray can so may be easier to obtain and apply
Is that leftover Mudtrooper mesh?
I use it on most of my SW helmets, usually for the Clone troopers for the mic tips and behind the grill/frown
You did a fantastic job on this Dan. I have a half scale predator mask that's been sitting in my cupboard for about 5 years just waiting for me to build it into a bust but ive been busy with other projects and the prospect of sanding it when i eventually get round to it is daunting ha haha. How long have you owned a 3d printer ?
Oh quite a few years, maybe 6 or 7, just haven't used it a whole lot. Always more sanding!

Thank you! Yeah, can't take all the credit, definitely saw something similar somewhere, but got it to work. Only thing I would do is go about 10% bigger than I did, and it would have been a little easier to mount on there
