Can I Have a Pet T. rex?
Can I have a pet T-Rex? Is a short interdisciplinary portrait documentary featuring paleontologist and Kod*lab postdoc, Aja Mia Carter and Kod*lab robotics researchers, Postdoc Wei-Hsi Chen and PhD student J.Diego Caporale. Dr. Carter is the first African American Woman awarded a PhD from the Earth and Environmental Science department and the first African American to get a PhD in Paleontology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Chen applies the art of origami to make a hopping robot while Mr. Caporale adds a degree of freedom to the spine of a quadruped robot to interrogate ideas about twisting and locomotion. An expert in the evolution of tetrapod spines from 380 millon years ago, Dr. Carter is still motivated by her childhood dream for a pet T-Rex, but how can these robotics researchers get her closer to her vision? And conversely, how is her deep knowledge of vertebral geometry, evolution and anatomy important to robotics researchers?

Therees two RHex the boston dynamics RHex and this parkour robot
Will this be able to turn?
what is it's use?
In 1992, Wow!
Great work, finally innovations in robotics research again! Keep it up!
great work!
This is my favorite video of all time
Hi Kodlab! Can you share open project? I can't find the project page. Thankyou very much!
hello, I'm build a quadruped robot like GB Minituar, Could you tell me what is its battery capacity and endurance?
Where is that desert you guys go to to test the robots? I swear it looks like the same one from those rhex tests haha
♥.♥ Cool thanks... The look of the wheel of this robot reminds me of that auxiliary wheel in "Soviet TPP-2 Jumping Tank".
Is the odrive worked at 24V or 48V?
ODrive v3.6, 24V version
@@weiyitang1769 Thank you
Still not as cute as original
Not gonna lie, that is actually very cool!
shut up
can u plz tell me that which simulating software u have used?
KANGAROOBOT
That's so cool
Is there any new progress or, perhaps, applications such as in military? can I buy it?
We are sending the RHex robot to help scientists explore the desert now:) czcams.com/video/IZg8dxaUlpw/video.html
Plz tell Wt r all the components used
he looks very mad
What's it gonna be used for?
Is this robot DD drived?
What material are the legs made of?
Rubber composite high density plastic.
The ending XD
This is basically a catalog of every adorable move a robot dog should have. The future thanks you.
We've shared the documentation of this project here: wevolver.com/wevolver.staff/jerboa.tailed.hopping.robot/master/blob/Overview.md
Nice Bot! I love these, especially the R-Hex! How do you program these bots? #firstcomment
Double-jump unlocked
oh that is good idea for terrain that have a big rocks like a mountain. I was found some robot structure for jumping but there are have some parts difficult to make
Have you considered a lengthening prismatic spine?
Kodlab - I think he doesn't need to be depending on the metal tube to jump,it'll be amazing if he can do by itself.
Lol so I'm scrolling through this website for my robotics team, and I see a post by our dear programmer saying we should make next year's robot with this drive. This is when I began laughing my head off, for those of you apart of know about First Robotics Competition you can see how funny this is by just imagining it running across the field!
wonderful!
please, give me a mechanical drawing RHex?
please, give me a mechanical drawing RHex
Asombroso !
The Penn Jerboa is a new underactuated (fewer motors than degrees of freedom) tailed bipedal robot platform in Kodlab that draws inspiration from jerboas or kangaroo rats, but at the same time, does not attempt to mimic their physiology or behavior. pr.ai/post38445
RHex paints six-legged robot Kod*lab, USA pr.ai/post36287
Can it steer?
probably, note it has six of these .. legs.. for a reason, maybe striking the ground harder with right legs turns it left?
Oh I meant was it coded to steer. It could probably steer by halting one side sooner than the other side in mid air to change it's momentum.
If they achieved that they'd would show it this film
does this mechanism work if the surface is irregular? i mean doesn't all the legs should work parallel to make this happen?
*puts on sunglasses* out of my way, I've got places to be and things to do
CONTRA 3
I do believe, you could articulate the RHex to stand and make it walk? If not at the very least a short sprint into a jump.
I think this thing is awesome... plain and simple...
Good use of a safety harness at the end!
I guess you have no counterargument. Moving on.
Way to ruin a pigeon poop joke :(
Absurd.
I can. I did. If we had use for landing in a leafy tree, we would develop something to that effect. Also, VTOL vehicles. Nearly as well? Well really, that's why we adapt the evironment to our needs. A horse can travel better at rough terrain, but pit it against a car in a road, well, you can imagine. Eveything has context. I do not say we have outdone all of nature, but we sure hell of a lot more advanced that you give credit for. Human race is amazing and you can't deny it.
