Never payed much attention to the solo section in 1:44, but it is truly amazing. So much raw force and creative power (specially in the first seconds, you can also see how massive Jimi's hands were :O ) . Same goes for outro section in 2:44, almost entire new songs and endless possibilities in small but beautiful phrases. A true genius, one and only.
Beautiful expression version. It's like Hendrix talking to Joe some afternoon that he bumped into him in the villa and told him creepy, calm what he was going to do then and after. In this version Jimi didn't play his guitar with his teeth or behind his back.

For some reason the best versions have been cancelled. The 50 million from Germany ( Offenbach) is off. Probably the sister foundation thing. Or stupid politics..
The little sliding fill Hendrix played over the D and A chord in the verse at 0:21 is one of my favourite things I ever heard him play. Tired and a little sad, so beautifully expressive of how he seemed to be feeling right then
I think Jimi Hendrix probably pressured himself more than anybody could ever pressure him. Remember He is an ex military man 104th airborne U S Army veteran at a very young age. One of those breeds who tends to accomplish a lot in life within a short span of time of course no doubt.
He was forced to join the military after getting caught riding in stolen cars. While there he was often neglectful of his duties, so I wouldn't call him a shining example of the U.S army.
You're right and that's why i love his music ... I mean, you can listen to his music 10 000 times, it's always different .... And everybody has a different opinion about the best ... Personnaly i like this one just because I can feel the huge amount of feelings he blowed through this version .... That's unbelievable .... The strange thing is that i've never find an artist who the gooseflesh like Jimi .... Each of his songs have a meaning, a reason to exist even he covered them ... Peace !
@Ruby2052 best songs, vocal and guitar hooks. best studio work. i wore out vinyl "smash hits" 3 times. i loved it.but for pure guitar playing genius live, it's band of gypsys. i never found any fault with noel redding's bass playing back then. but as a more mature musician now, 4 me, billy cox's playing brought out a completely different kind of playing, especially with buddy miles on drums. you have to agree it's way funkier than anything the experience did.(if you like that sort of thing. )
@zaneverovati bored singing the same shit every night w/ the band he didnt pick but was thrown into by his english producers. i love mitch mitchell's drumming, for what it is, but it isn't funky. he never liked noel redding's bass playing much.(typical guitarist turns bassist style)he was on the verge of breaking out w/ his old mate from the air force days, billy cox on bass,& buddy miles on drums. check out some clips of his new years eve'69performance(band of gypsies)his best playing ever.
"yeah i guess i HAVE to step up to the mike and sing this". a half beat late. geez he looks and sounds bored. or depressed. he doesnt even bother to finish the verse, or the next one!. time for some new material and a new band. (of gypsy's)
I was looking for that. You can tell when you put this performance up against the 67 performances of monterrey or in London. The drugs and the road certainly took a toll too by 69. They didn't know of the psychological damage, irreversible in some sad cases those drugs could deliver.
@@amyh3873 Check out the version of hey Joe they played on the second show that same day in Stockholm, its probably the best version of hey Joe they ever played, the version in this vid was the first show
3:18 that chirping tone he gets right there is sublime, he wasn’t always rough, he could sing with the guitar too
Might have taken an aspirin or 2 maybe? Still brilliant.
On his worst day Jimi was King Arthur 🎉
God he sucks, too much hype!

Jimmy hendrix veio pra mostrar o que é, muito fera toca muito guitarra 🎸, dono de uma voz maestral, Jimmy total.
The out of tune guitar just adds to the melancholic feel this version has
Geddy Lee on the base , kool
Well this a copy tune ...Billy Roberts wrote it....
this is the first night of the tour and i'm pretty sure i caught every night on yt full concerts keep looking

I wouldn't have noticed that if you hadn't said it. But he draws on that concept a lot and it does give this one a different mood.
I studied and know by memory this entire version. There so many fantastic little details. The one your are pointing is absolutely beautiful.
Αθάνατος για μια ζωή
Great how he can't get the damn guitar in tune in this concert and still sounds like a force of nature ...brilliant ...unmatched
This was the Jimi Hendrix Experience on a bad night lol
I think this is one of the best jimi live, the spanish castle magic of this live is the perfect music ive ever heard in my lif
@@Ohbubbano funny you say that because the second set he played this night he played the greatest version of hey joe ever lol
woodstocj hendrix
Regardless, Jimi will kick you in the nuts. A maestro who knows his power.
Es un grande
shit i forgot the lyrics, oh well ill just play another solo. haha gold
Shut up nerd
Will fucking Schroeder
Sweden at that time has a lack of certain substances and too much alcohol...hence this attitude...
Jimi played Hey Joe the three times I saw him. They were all a little different but all great.
When Jimi Hendrix play live at Berkeley and play Hey Joe I like that version better
Jesus Mitch is great, so fluid.
When he is serious about playing he is at his best , Guitar sounds like it is tuned down to D . He also performed much better without drugs .
He wasn't on no drugs stop believing what the media tells you and think for yourself.
I like this version. It's more subdued and dark feeling.
As if Joe Gunn's spirit himself showed up. That WAS THAT Joe. I felt it too
Jimi Hendrix is staging an act Not sad at all.
Now why would he pretend he was sad that makes no damn sense.

@@Yohodaify to go to other countries and wage war against people in the name of freedom that's no shining example.
he was very tired. there was too much pressure put on him that he barely had any sleep.
Samuel Ortiz just like Elvis 👍.

Why is Jimi so sad??
Because of all the pressure he was under at the time plus he was exhausted from the constant touring it takes it's toll on you eventually.
This piece of work call Mike Jeffreys.... There's always Jack A... In paradise somewhere
Love it.

This version's so cool...he screws up the lyrics on the second half then just says fuck it and plays a solo to recover
He tries to reinvent his songs every time hes plays them.
big one up man, people need to kick back n relax :) worldpeace now!!!

@MinecraftSquareTV pretty sure yes. i read he tuned his guitar down so he could bend the (looser) strings more easily.

@zaneverovati might be because of drugs but the only one who knows for sure is the god of guitar himself.
