My father and grandparents lived in Massachusetts 30 miles from the coast. The roof of their garage blew of and crashed through the dining room wall and the flooding inland was the worse they'd ever had in that area. Hurricane Sandy was bad in the NYC and NJ areas, but in general we have become complacent. This could happen again here and we are not prepared. We act like this is ancient history, but the damage from a storm like the 38 hurricane would be much worse now. The only thing that's better now is the forecasting. You got the sound effects wrong. I was in a high rise in lower Manhattan during Sandy. The wind sounded more like a freight train than a whistling or howling.

The song was written in 1934, decades before the term cultural appropriation was even imagined, and it is hardly the first time a melody was re-used with different lyrics. If your preference is for the original lyrics ... fine prefer the original lyrics, but someone else liked the melody enough to use it for their lyrics. And it is a beautiful song and a worthwhile message.

on my home island of jamestown, rhode island, where i grew up, a school bus got washed away by an estimated 25 foot wave, into sheffield cove, killing 8 children and the driver. two children somehow survived. even the roadway there at mackerel cove was ripped apart. the island lost ferry service to saunderstown and to newport. my late grandfather told me all about it. lots of pictures are online at the jamestown historical society. i'm a blizzard of 1978 survivor. my late grandmother said she saw nothing that bad since the hurricane of 1938. i live in tampa now, but it has nearly the same geography. it has been nearly 100 years since tampa had a direct hit. i'm not complacent. i know it is not a matter of IF but WHEN.

May we please integrate symbolically, with free and fair trade, instead of politically. The time of changing countries' borders we hoped Queen Wlizabeth and Winston Churchill stopped, long ago , thru theirs and our building of post-war institutions institutions of peace, and fajr borders, following the second, and we hope, last, world War. "wa(r)" in Chinese means means "i;" and I believe you simply have a misteandlarion with the Russians try asking Zhou Chen to come in and negotiate and maybe Lisa and John Kerry, swift boat Veteran for Peace ✌ 😀 I think NATO maybe needs to swear if Russia pulls out that they won't get into the EU and whatever else and maybe we not change borders either?

I wrote a paper on nuclear deterrence during the Cold War period. The Nautilus was built to ensure Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). Had the Soviets made a nuclear attack on America’s soil, America would at least have the chance to make a retaliatory strike on the Soviet Union. It was an extremely stressful times, especially with ego-maniacs in both Russian and US offices. Interesting topic..
