    There is either a Tikka or a Sako in my not too distant future.Budget,however, would be the TC Compass with a 3-9 scope of some sort for $319 that I just ordered!

    Tikka is the most impressive production rifle I've encountered for the money. I got a new T3x Compact 708 on gun broker, NIB, for $450. It is blued. Wish they made a left hand stainless in 708. For the past few years I've ordered AG Composite, McMillan, Stocky's stocks with vertical grips. The jury is still out but I think I prefer the traditional style. The 2 primary upgrades I've done with every Tikka is a lighter trigger spring and a Limbsaver recoil pad. Change the spring for sure. This is my first 708 ever and used it for the first time this past deer season. I used that exact Norma ammo to tag 3 deer at 300 yards. Only downside to Tikka that I kinda wish I had known about was their barrels are slower than most. I now own 24 Tikka rifles, two of which I rebarreled and a 3rd is in process. What I found was the Tikka barrels are, on average, 100-150 fps slower than an aftermarket barrel like a Brux, Benchmark, Krieger, or Bartlein. In my short barreled (compact) 708 that Norma 150 grain bullet is only going in the high 2400s to low 2500fps. At 300 yards it was dropping 20" from a 100 yard zero. The second factory ammo that shot extremely well is Hornady American Whitetail, I think it is a 139 grain bullet? I bough 2 cases of it and 2 cases of Federal Power Shok to try. Last modification I've done with a few of the factory black polymer stocks is paint them camo. Turned out excellent. I actually like the polymer magazines due to their weight and price at $20 each (auction).

    I just picked up a similar gun. It is just the basic mini action 1500 in 6mm ARC. I shot some HSM 95 GR Berger VLDS and HSM 75 GR Hornady Vmaxs and both were well under 1/2 MOA for a 3 and 4 shot group. Now if I could find a DECENT shooting 6mm ARC Barrel in AR 15. I have tried Ballistic Advantage which was ok and then upgraded to a Ranier Ultramatch and I was severely disappointed with accuracy and function. Anyone know of an AR 15 6MM ARC that is not so finicky like the Rainier.

      I have an 18" Wilson Combat tactical hunter in one of my 6arc AR's and it is fantastic. The only kicker is that the gas length is an Wilson Combat proprietary intermediate length so you will have to buy your gas tube through WC or a retailer that sells WC gas tubes.

    Appreciated the review, thank you. More often than not, user error accounts for "issues." Hard to pass this up, but the consensus seems to be the APX A1 is good, but not exceptional. Did you find it immediately accurate at the range, or did it take you some time to figure it out? Aside from what I own, I've tried many guns and find them of varying accuracy. Most Sigs seems to work best for me without much adjustment, though of course there are others. Relative to an entirely different gun with an off-center and stuck, probably loctited front sight (no screw) which has thus far resisted movement when hit with a brass punch, any thoughts on how to move the bugger? Would heat possibly break the seal ? I hate to send it out to move the sight a fraction of a millimeter.

    My kids run this firearm in SASP. It’s going on its 5th season with a 11k plus round count. I can only remember a handful of malfunctions. Per the instructions I use Militec 1 and TW25B lubricants. It’s easily smoother running over my Brown 45 and half the price. I highly, highly recommended this Dan Wesson firearm.

    If you haven't already done so, you should contact Savage customer service. They've been very good to deal with, in my experience. Sorry you've had some issues. I just bought the same gun in .308 and it's flawless, just as I'd expect of Savage's quality. (I own a BUNCH of Savage rifles and never had any problems like that.) Plus, I didn't care about the muzzlebrake because it's getting replaced with a suppressor anyhow.

    • @huntinonabudgettexas4695
      @huntinonabudgettexas4695 Před 7 měsíci

      I made full contact and went back and forth for over a week regarding this. I had always had wonderful experiences with all of my Savage Rifles prior to this. Unfortunately, the CS person I was working with admittedly had no knowledge about the product/s we were discussing. This was their first mistake as any dealings should be with someone that has at least a general familiarity with their products. The second mistake was the attempt to convince me that the magnum bolt head was a custom one off built, assembled, and hand fitted piece for each firearm. We both know that this is not the case as these are not custom firearms. I was willing to deal with the rust/oxidation, and air-soft muzzle brake issues but the bolt head story was unfortunately the deal breaker. I may give them another chance in the future but it is unlikely as I have started the process of building my own bolt action rifles. Thank you so much for your comments.

      @huntinonabudgettexas4695 Před 8 měsíci

      I agree completely. Most folks that have issues with 1911's are those that have never had any experience with one or are coming over from Glock style pistols and have an expectation of the firearm to be identical to what they know. Not the case with 1911's generally and especially what we are speaking of. Thank you for your comments.
