Boy, piano playing must have been the talent of one and all seeing how nearly every one of the 3 dozen golden oldies movies I've waded thru in the past weeks has a piano in every apartment and hotel room the story was set in. 😂

This movie could not be more racist. I stopped counting disparaging remarks about African Americans at three. The great Monty Wooley my Black Behind. I now have a low opinion of Ida Lupino and Cornell Wilde also. This movie is about selfishness. The script highlights the selfishness of a drunk character and the three stars that were paid to promote racism.

Because far better to watch all the rubbish made from the 60's forward forcing your mentioned "injustices" down our throats in addition to gay/lesbian, human and animal cruelty, the inability to do without nudity, drinking and a probable average of 237 swear words per standard 1 1/2 hours of "entertainment".😢😢

I think Ida Lupino and I have the same old moto: "Work like a Dog, think like a Man, and act like a lady." Jackie Kennedy did, too. Both accepted that it would be a "man's world" for a long time, but they were too smart to waste energy bellyaching about it. Ida opened her own studio, IdaLou, rather than succumb to being owned by the studios. (Imagine having to get permission to marry, and if you didn't, you were finished). Wilde was so young and handsome, a fine actor and by all accounts, a good person. He has 'good Eyes'. TY for posting this gem!

My 2nd time enjoying this film. The multi-talented and lovely Ida Lupino was deeply in love with her first husband and Actor Louis Hayward! They were a right match for each other, but WW2 happened and he joined the Marine Corps and came back with 'Battle Fatigue' or 'Shell Shock' as it was referred to back then. Thus, causing their divorce after she tried hard to save it.

CAVEAT for al those who carry the pain of growing up with alcoholism. Advise against viewing this film. A marriage sicj as suggested here will also be doomed But 'Maddie's marriage will meet every single one of his requirements, while the chances of 'Kathy' not ending up in some form of gutter area great. She is, in reality, '"crippled" for life, unless she can take the years necessary to undo her conditioning.
