To get better at drawing, you need to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. But if you learn some stuff, all that practice will make you better sooner.
To that end, I trickle out how-to-draw videos that make difficult subjects easy-ish ones. I'd make these videos more frequently, but I'm busy PRACTICING PRACTICING PRACTICING, myself.
If you like my work and techniques, you can learn more about my work and my two how-to-draw books at: www.robbielee-illustrator.com or insta @robbiesomething

Notes: The Tombow eraser I used was the MONO zero. Get it at Sam Flax or Artsystems in Orlando, or Blick.com (or Amazon of course).
If you don't have a drawing stump (technically called a "stomp"), you can roll up some scrap drawing paper.

How to Draw a Pair of Matching Eyes (Easy-ish)
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 5 lety
Relatively easy, step-by-step approach to drawing a pair of eyes that match, so that both eyes look the same. Spoiler: The trick is to start with a few divisions and then draw in chunks, a little on one side, a little on the other. This lesson is basically taken from my book, "Drawing Made Easy: How to Draw from Observation and Imagination" (Impact Books, 2018). More info at my site: www.robbie...

Very nice.thank you
Thank you ! 11/23. Who knew!
Thank you so much man, I've been struggling with character faces for a while and this was a huge help. It filled in the knowledge gaps that were causing a lot of frustration, so now I am expecting your book to arrive in two days from now and I can't wait
Cool- thanks! Smiled in real life reading your message. And thanks for the royalties, too!
Thank you for this video I just used this technique to do some digital art of a dock for a game we are making thanks so much for these videos I also bought your books and they are helping me a lot. They are about physical paper drawings, but it works for digital too. (Also, sometimes I draw on paper as well.)
Thanks for the comment and also for the support! It's gratifying to know there's actual humans out there watching these videos and reading my books and finding them useful. Best of luck with your art and thanks again for taking the time to let me know. :)
You deserve more subscribers lol
Thanks, Potassium. You're opp-awesome.
this was awesome.... thanks a lot
Huzzah! Thanks, Princess!
Genuinely amazing video. This seriously needs more views, saved me so much time lmao
Thanks! I think so, too. I'm gonna tell my students next time I say "watch this video I made" and they aren't super pumped. I'm gonna tell em what SpoonGaming said!
What if the character has a more humanoid anatomy
Really the same principles apply, though you may need to consider perspective (like I mention in the very end) for elements that line up horizontally (like eyes, a mouth, stripes on a shirt, etc.). My suggestion would be to use a photo reference (even if the "model" doesn't look terribly like your character, it can still help get the pose and perspective right). Just snap a photo of the human from the same angle you want it to appear in your drawing, and stand (or sit, etc.) kind of far from the model and zoom so you don't get any forced perspective stuff. Hope that helps- it's pretty general advice!
That was super helpful- thank you! I never really thought about the fact that if you do shadow on the left/bottom, you need to do highlights on the right/top- the contrast really pops and gives it depth. Thanks for the tips!
This is super helpful- thank you!
I love this! It helped me so much on my school project, so simple and easy to follow. Thanks a lot!
Huzzah! Thx for letting me know.
Can you do a video on leaves pls? Folded, etc… thanks!
Thanks- that's a great idea- I'd like to do trees, too. Just need more hours in the day...
Really amazing how simple this idea is. It is a good starting point for me just getting into art.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful. Keep drawing!
this entire series was SO helpful. i’m a very beginner and entirely self taught and struggle with attempting things i don’t feel i have the abilities for. but the way you broke this down makes it SO approachable. thank you! i’m going to go draw a frog hiding in a wall now, thanks!!! ❤️❤️
Hey thanks Caroline! Drawing is totally skill-based. Practice, practice, practice but you can make the practice much more effective if you learn stuff, too. Which you are clearly doing. Draw all the frogs in all the walls!
That is so good. And so helpful to see the simple techniques that got you here.
Thanks for watching all three and commenting!
These are precisely what I needed. 😁
This is perfect
Thank you. Great video, it is very helpful 👍
Belated thanks!
this really made it seem easy the way you explained it. thank you!!!
Ty ty ty ty
Thanks man, simple but very powerful tips you gave there.
Nice art czcams.com/video/udeitqolZQE/video.html
So good to see you doing another one of these! Your wood grain video changed my terrain crafting forever! Thank you!
Hey cool, thanks!
Thanks man
hiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!
this is incredibly helpful, I expected it to have a huge number of views.
this guy's voice and narration are awesome. And of course it's great content as well!
Thanks. I sometimes switch to that voice because I think I sound impatient in videos with my regular voice. But they're all me. (Feel free to read that in whichever voice you prefer. :) )
You should do inktober videos
Great video! Thanks. It is a pity that there are so few likes and comments. Your videos are very interesting and simple.
Thanks! Yeah, I reckon I should make more. Need more time. Or maybe a different philosophy about time...
Hi

Thank you! Cheers!
How come you don't post anymore😢? your videos really helped thanks!
I kind of forget that people actually watch them and find them helpful- thanks for the reminder! Just too busy painting and all kinds of other stuff. But I will add a few more priority points to making some videos and will definitely make some more at some point.
@@easy-ishdrawingvideos840 I look forward to them!
Great video! I really like your approach to drawing. Liked and subscribed!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love your videos. They always show me new easy ways of drawing!
Thank you Carl! Super cool to hear I showed something new to a creative guy like yourself.
Your video is quick, too the point and helpful. Thanks!
Glad you think so!
super
thank you
Welcome!
This is a great video as it shows you how to go about measuring the length of the shadow depending on the light source of course but explains it in such a greater understanding way than those loomis books. I hope you do more videos on shadows.👍🏻👍🏻
Better than Loomis! I'll take it! Glad it was helpful. Thanks!
I've been drawing since I was born and I've never been very satisfied with my wood grain attempts. This may be the first time in my life I've ever looked up "how to draw" something on CZcams and I gotta say, pretty good tactic. Thanks!
Thanks Professor!
Anyone here from school
Now I can draw a nose! Make new videos!!!
Aw dang I want to, especially after your comment!!! One day soon-ish. Glad you can draw noses and thanks for the props.
Absolutely fantastic! Most of the other CZcams tutorials assume possession of a certain artistic level (which is above me) and simply state 'now shade the wood'. But your tutorials really nail it down, showing how to do it. Thank you so much! I will look into buying your book.
Hey thanks! Glad you found it useful. Smiled as I read your comment.
Amazing! Thank you so much. I will look to find your book!
Cool, thanks!
