Robuck is actually the one that’s supposed to die here, in bo1 on five you can see his pic on the wall and the date he died. Which would make sense because Polonsky was the younger, more green soldier. Call of duty world at war is criminally under rated, probably top 3 cod’s of all time.

Damn..... I played this game years ago and didn't even know that this ending existed. But I personally prefer the one where Polonsky is saved.

I just played though this game for the first time blind, I had a strange feeling when this happened I was like "Wait the Japanese dont surrender" and literally as it goes though my head they are attacking and so I shot the one closest to me who was struggling with the other soilder trying to get his gun only to then realise they blew up robuck. Was genuinely surprised and felt deeply immersed during this scene and following battle
