Remote extinct volcano cone serves as a spectacular takeoff point for a paragliding adventure. Mt Bonnycastle sits between Vancouver and Squamish, British Columbia accessed by 4x4 road when open, by boat or helicopter. Fortunately I survived a couple of poor decisions, with just bruises and a good story to tell. Did I learn from it- you bet.

I saw some folks launch canoes in paradise valley when I was camping at the end of the road there in 2017. I wonder if it was you! I had a big red kawartha on my 4runner and I wished I could join in lol.

At 16:49, you say, "Figure 8 rapids are not so intimidating now". My Dad and I paddled the Nahanni in 1980, and dumped at the Figure 8, or I think it might also have been called Hell's Gate. We didn't take the turn sharply enough and crashed into the rock wall. Why is it "not so intimidating now"??

Hi Jim, the river has changed, the roller coaster wave train and whirlpools have been washed out apparently, when we ran it it was straight down the middle and quite benign.

You are goood....I believe that you flown more than the reported 36km. At Bridal I am flying at least 100km in 2.5hrs. Maybe your software is counting straight line between the thermals. I am impressed that you got lift in the winter.

The number is the distance for an XC flight. Flying circles over launch (airtime x average speed) doesn't count as XC. XC flights are either open distance with 3 turn points, out-and-returns or FAI triangles. Xcplanner is a good tool to visualize this. Or upload the flight to xcontest or leonardo - both will calculate the correct xc distance.
