Chemistry Demonstration: Na and Water with Indicator Demonstration
zhlédnutí 927Před 3 lety
Check out this simple yet amazing chem demo! Sodium metal reacts with water to form sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. The phenolphthalein indicator added to the water turns pink proving the hydroxide is basic.
Chemistry Demonstration: Lead + KI
zhlédnutí 205Před 3 lety
Check out this simple yet amazing chem demo! The demonstration is an example of a double displacement reaction. Lead(II) nitrate and potassium Iodide solutions are combined to create a precipitate. A bright yellow solid precipitate is formed because lead Iodide is only partially soluble in water.
Chemistry Demonstration: Ammonia Fountain
zhlédnutí 96Před 3 lety
Check out this simple yet amazing chem demo! A large, round reaction pot is placed inverted in the apparatus and filled with anhydrous ammonia gas. The stopper inserted in the pot has two glass tubes, one short and one long. The long tube extends into a reservoir filled with water that has been spiked with phenolphthalein indicator. The short tube is connected to a rubber bulb filled with water...
Chemisty Demonstration: Balloons with Li and Cu
zhlédnutí 17Před 3 lety
Check out this simple yet amazing chem demo! As the hydrogen is combusted, electrons in metal salts on the outside of the balloons are excited to higher energy levels. As the electrons fall back to lower energy levels, photons are emitted. The color of the burst will depend on the metal salt used and the corresponding wavelength of light emitted. Check out our chemistry demos page for more info...
Chemistry Demonstration: Br2 with Toluene and Hexane
zhlédnutí 4,7KPřed 3 lety
Check out this simple yet amazing chem demo! Hexane is an unsaturated compound, and bromine will not react with hexane. Bromine will react with alkene to form addition reaction. Aromatic hydrocarbons are not reactive due to the extra stability of the delocalized π system. Check out our chemistry demos page for more information: buff.ly/2tZanNJ Video Credit: Philip Stemple
