"With a Little Lime Juice" for intermediate multi-percussion

Published in "The Blue Book, Vol. 2" - available through Tapspace Publications. Inspired by a variety of Afro-Cuban styles and rhythms, "With a Little Lime Juice" is a short, upbeat solo for the intermediate multi-percussionist. In retrospect, my recent obsession with Michel Camilo's album, Caribe, and Snarky Puppy's We Like it Here clearly manifests itselisten in this piece. To get a sense of ...

"Selva Luminosa" for mallet quartet
zhlédnutí 3,1KPřed 7 lety
"Selva Luminosa" - translated as luminous jungle - is my first work for mallet quartet in which I sought out to feature an earthy, almost tribal sound palette in the marimbas against the shimmering and brilliant sound of the vibraphone. Much of the language throughout stems from my daily exposure to a slew of Latin American genres such as merengue, cumbia, and salsa from an early age as well as...

Do you have this recording available for students? I would love for my student to play along with it. Thanks!
I cant wait for when my percussion direct gets me and the other 3 players together to start learning this. I got to hear a full ensemble version at the tmea convention. It was amazing.
far and away my favorite mallet quartet

POV you were sent here by your band director
A bop.
Me encanta esta pieza, y la interpretas de manera muy padre. Saludooooos.
Still the best performance on CZcams. 👌🏾👌🏾
Hola Francisco, enhorabuena me gusta mucho tu arreglo. Donde podría conseguir el audio, gracias.
Are you using marimba mallet tape?
Hi Donnell, yes - simply using some generic tennis racket wrap.
@@perezpercussion Thank you!!!
@@perezpercussion Can it stop the mallets from slipping?
Tough sound
Heh heh, Shelby getting first. I’ll at least call third as second marimba playing this. Was an amazing piece and would love to play it again
This was just fantastic. One question. The crystal glasses have me really confused- how did the pitch bends work for that? The only way I know of to alter the pitch is to change the level of the liquid in the glass. It's usually water, of course-was it vodka here? Lol Seriously though, how was that done? Because I'd swear you can't do what I'm hearing, but you obviously did and it breaks my brain.
@@KyleNally When we did it, we tipped the glasses as we created the pitch. It changed it slightly but even Dr. Perez said it wasn't a HUGE deal. More for effect.

I heard this on the radio the other day and thought it was fantastic. thankyou for this
Love the location! Great piece!
love this piece. I first experienced it in Ojai when John Adams directed. Stage left and right was stacked with giant speakers towering overhead. Fantastic!!
Woah... this is epic

Bravo! La beauté du geste
Now this is how you spend your quarantine! Outstanding work as always Dr. Perez
The Siciliana sounds lovely on the marimba - this wonderful Bach piece really translates well to an entirely different instrument - beautifully played!
That’s a lot of notes
Is this is arrangement in a minor? By lee Howard Stevens?
Yes, this is Stevens' arrangement.
Wow, I couldn't help but smile when the first theme returned later in the piece. You played it with such nostalgia. Absolutely wonderful.
Thanks for your performance & uploading
Javier, still remember singing your piece for Vocem - loved it! This reminds me of it, good times!
The original version of it is great but u made it perfect! absolutely amazing! thank you!
I like very much....
Fantastic!!!!
Fun piece of music!
I wish this lecture was given a year ago :((( I did my entire 4000 word extended essay on Reich's "Mallet Quartet", this would have been SO helpful :((((((
je m appelle Ameline 😂
Best performance of this piece I've seen! great ending.
+perezpercussion What mallets did you use? They speak incredibly well across the board with depth of color, without sacrificing the warmth.
Probably the best mexican composer. Very nice interpretation
