What do you mean?
how are the sunroof lights holding up, a lot of people say they’re not worth it cause with more use, they’ll start to rip
Still works great! Just make sure you use a liberal amount of adhesive and it should hold up. Having stars in the sunroof cover is a must, in my opinion, it doesn’t look as good without it.
Very tastefully done. 🥰 Looks like it was installed by the manufacturer.
Very expensive. I prefer others examples from other selllers.
Yes, but you get what you pay for. This cluster is much more refined and has a much better UI than any other I’ve seen. It’s like the Apple of the gauge cluster world.
@@TheAutoSurgeon In your opinion, not mine for sure. To be honest i didnt see any special about it. To have many possibilities doesnt mean they are good. I didnt like any to be honest. In otherwise, we can buy in Aliexpress a cheap one and being honest i just like one image of the Aliexpress, Speed on top and gears bellow. The rest are so ugly like yours, it seems a toy and not made to a special car. All examples that you have are worst than the original cluster. Calling Apple of the gauge cluster to that, is to laugh for sure. Even trying a joke saying that is ridiculous. Better saying, "apple" overpriced of the world. 👎 Paying 1000 ou 2000 for that not even if i was Elon Musk.
To each their own 🤷. If you end up getting the Chinese one, I'd love to hear about your experience with it. I'm pretty confident it'll be filled with glitchy software or subpar hardware. When it comes to a part as vital as this, flawless operation is crucial. It should work seamlessly without any glitches or crashes for optimal safety. The mention of Apple was in relation to its user-friendly interface, reliability, performance, and quality. I understand if there was any frustration stemming from that comment.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Like I said, I didn't see any special on yours. All examples are not worst comparing with Chinese one. Some Chinese pieces I agree are not good, but in these days forget that. DJI is the most reliable drone and guess what, is Chinese. Xiaomi is the most reliable I'm many things, and guess what... We are in 2024 not in 1980... I bought an Android 11 to my BMW and so far is perfect. Technology is very good and reliable. At the time I heard some guys saying the same as you, but overpriced is overpriced no matter what. With clusters is exactly the same, Chinese ones we can pay 500 and the effect is better than your... 3x less the cost and with possibility to upgrade in future always free...like we do with android using a USB port. And free... And yours just to put colours the cost is bigger... Is funny. But, like I said. Not just the cost, models of display are better looking than yours. That's why they sell a lot and we can see in CZcams reviews and so on. And guess what, people love it. If I intend to buy, of course no doubts at all. I prefer the Chinese one. Better looking the displays and better deal. My opinion and opinion of the most of the people. Using the expression of Apple on yours doesn't make any sense bro.
@@thextubegood for you lil bro everything thinks the exact opposite
Can you pls do a video on how to retrofit the standard e60 mirrors to the m5 model folding ones?
bro pls help me , i have e60 2010 , I can't disable DSC, I tried every way
What happens when you press and hold the DTC button?
@@TheAutoSurgeon It appears there for 1 second or less and then disappears. :(
Thanks for the great video! As I want to install it on a small car without a soft ambiant dome light, would it be possible to use the storage lights for this purpose or are the LED's to bright?
Yes, absolutely! It can be done. If you find that they are too bright, you can always turn down the brightness through the app. It can go very dim, so you’ll definitely be able to find a brightness that’ll work.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Great! Thanks for your quick reply.
I lost the controller to my lights and they randomly changed one day to a color fade instead of just sparkling white. any recommendations for universal remotes?
Just look up any “RGB remote controller” and any of those should work just fine.
Very good work!
Very helpful video. Appreciated, I have been watching many of these videos but none were this detailed.
Glad it was helpful!
I have never seen anything like this can’t wait to do this on my car🔥🔥🔥
does this works with 530d? like from 2004 and up?
Yes, it should! Check the website to make sure it’s compatible.
Full installation video on your channel went into all the detail wow. Thanks again 👍
Looks so good 🔥🔥
Gonna do this too
Ok at first I gave up on this project but now I’m thinking of doing it cuz of how great it came out and thanks for plugging in the shop to get it from.
It definitely takes some determination, but it’s 100% worth the effort! Let me know how it goes.
Amazing install🔥
Perfect timing, i just ordered a kit off amazon a week ago but it doesn't have dual color selection. I might return it and order this one instead
For sure! Most Amazon kits aren’t the greatest, they have very limited functionality.
I had the Amazon one before too. Thing was a bit wack. The wires it came with didn’t work so I returned and gave up on the project but this video gave me some Motivation 😂

Nice cinematic intro 😍😍. This project is so satisfying wow, I'm definitely going to get this kit for my Jeep.
Awesome! Thank you!
wow that looks amazing.
Wonderful production!
Glad you like it!
Oh yeah this is definitely gonna bring my ex back
Maybe so 😂

Very cool🔥
Yo this can literally give your car a luxury transformation that people normally would pay $10,000s for thats incredible
Agreed, Rolls Royce charges over $15k for their starlight headliner and their system is subpar compared to this.
That’s 🔥🔥 definitely can’t wait to get my kit and install this
Been waiting for a new video
Will be posting more often now!
If I don't have the cigarette lighter in front of me, where do you think I could get the power to the main controller?
You may have a fuse box in your glovebox, you can use something called a ‘fuse tap’ to tap into an existing circuit and piggyback the power from it. It’s a very simple device, I’m posting a new video today in a few hours and It’ll include using a fuse tap.
do you have any idea why my passenger door lights don't come on, but they have 13.25V?
I connected them to the window controller, but nothing. Do you have any ideas?
Is the main controller wired in and powered on? The sub controllers don’t turn on unless the main controller is on and sends a signal to the sub controllers to turn on.
@TheAutoSurgeon yes the main controller is wired and working but the one in the passenger door is not
Do you suggest this an annual maintenance item? I have to do this with the RV but those are drums, but the tow vehicle has disks.
It’s not necessarily an annual maintenance item. It depends on how much you drive and how hard you are on the brakes. You should definitely inspect them annually but just replace them when the pad material is getting low and/or when the rotors have developed a lip on the outer ring.
What makes them go bad? My 12 index went out after 20 000 km
Just the way that they’re designed - the solenoid, orifices, etc. the index 12s are supposed to be bulletproof, so they shouldn’t clog up or leak. Where did you get your index 12 injectors from? Make sure to buy them from a reputable supplier; there’re a lot of people selling index 9s reprinted as index 12s.
@@TheAutoSurgeon bmw workshop got them for me, havent opened them yet but alot of gas smell on start up and wet spark plugs
@@TheAutoSurgeon thanks for the info
Hopefully they’re authentic, I bet you payed good money. You may just have one leaking injector, which is still completely possible. I’d throw in a couple bottles of injector cleaner and see if that helps before pulling the trigger on a new injector.
Where can i buy it ? Can it be used on Lexus RX350 F Sport ? You made it so nice
The link is in the video description! Yes, it’s a universal kit; It can be used on a Lexus.
How are the lights today?
Working great!
do you have the link to the wheel?
I don’t have the link anymore, it’s been deleted. But if you just search for an e60 steering wheel on Ali Express, you’ll be able to find one. They’re all probably made in the same factory.
what epoxy did u use
Any epoxy works, I used JB weld clear epoxy.
Best detailed video !
Hey I have these lights and just installed them. What is the app called for the lights? My package didn’t come with any instructions and I can’t find it online
You can use “Magic Lantern” on the App Store.
I tried 3 different apps, and none of them were able to find the main module!
Are these sound sensitive? Will they interact with the cars sound system?
Yes, they react to sound through the app!
how does the sub controller communicate with the main controller? simply as soon as I give it power and all the sub controllers connect to the main controller?
Yes, exactly. As soon as they have power, they’ll turn on. But if the main controller is powerless, the sub controllers will stay off since there is no wireless signal indicating the controllers to turn on.
Fire video, which kit is this? 10 in 1, 18 in 1, or 2 in 1?
It’s the 18 in 1 kit!
@@TheAutoSurgeon ok thank you so much
Thanks for the video, its looking like I'll be cleaning out my injectors after I clean the vanos first, fuel pressure problems.
Let me know if cleaning the VANOS solenoids makes a difference, I might clean mine too if it’s a noticeable improvement. But if you’re having fuel pressure issues, it might be better to look into your LPFP and HPFP. If you have MHD or a good OBD2 scan tool, you can check the live fuel pressure and locate where the pressure drop is occurring.
@@TheAutoSurgeon thanks, I was told the same thing since I already replaced both hpfp and lpfp along with both sensors lp hp, both 02 sensors a new ekp but I haven't installed it yet new plugs and packs new battery, gas cap starter, man I'm running out of options it's been giving me fuel high pressure plausibility, cold start fault pressure is to high [ bank 1]
Did you replace them with OEM parts? I know the Chinese HPFPs and sensors can cause issues. I know the feeling of continuously throwing parts at a car to hopefully fix the issue. Sometimes when you’re really stumped, it’s better to just take it to a reputable shop to get a professional diagnosis. It’ll save you tons of money on unnecessary repairs in the long run.
@@TheAutoSurgeon yeah I think you're right, now that you mentioned it the hpfs is pierburg but made in Thailand and I'm not sure about the hpfp because I took it to a local mechanic who over charged me for the parts and labor not to mention $460 for the diagnostic when that didn't work I dumped another $1,000 for the 02 sensors with smog and labor, same results 3 days later, that's when I decided an MHD adapter and pro tool and MHD apps would help me do it myself, man I came pretty close, took it for a test drive a few weeks back and it went back into limp mode right when I hit 60mph, back to the drawing board.
With MHD, run some logs at idle and see if your HPFP stays above or around 1900 PSI. If it drops to around 1000 PSI while the LPFP is at its regular 60-70PSI (I think that’s where it sits), it most likely will be the HPFP. Try to find a local parts breaker and get a used working HPFP with warranty. You can probably get one for under $200. These cars hate non-OEM parts, they cause significant issues. If you need more help, just shoot me an email (therealautosurgeon@gmail.com) and I can take a look at your logs.
I've been a service technician for over 40 years ,Yea I know i'm old but i do own a BMW M5 and this video is just going to make my installation so much more easier , Great Job !
hi bro, where did u bought ur carbon fiber trim, the cic one and ac
I actually made it myself! Carbon fiber skinning.
Old OEM did do temperature, however its locked behind settings.
Yes, but it’s infinitely better to have oil and coolant temps present at all times. Clicking through menus every time you drive the car gets annoying.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Cant argue with you on that one, when can afford it, im defo upgrading mine.
Nice tutorial! Question, when connecting to the white wire does that make the light appear only when its dark outside ? If not do you know how to make them turn on automatically when its "night time" if you know what i mean. Best regards
Yes, the white wire on the cigarette lighter in the video. That is on my car though, it might be different for yours. You just need to find a power source that’s on when the headlights are on. For example, if you have some factory ambient lighting, you can tap into that since it’s only on at night.
Which kit did you buy? They have a lot of options. Between 2 in 1, up to 16 in 1. What do those mean?
I installed the 18 in 1 kit which comes with everything shown in the video (dash, door panel, door handle, storage area, and footwell lights). The other kits just have less parts. For example, the 2 in 1 only includes 2 light strips for the dash, the 10 in 1 kit includes everything except for the door handle and storage area lights.
Change your door lights, these are most cheapest one already fully faded out 😂 , ambient lights are ok 👌🏼 but in long term test them cuz these are gen 1 from controller in can see. Gen 3 controller is best so far now
Which door light do you mean? The door handle or the storage area one? It’s been working great so far, whats the difference between the first gen and 3rd gen controllers? I didn’t know there were different versions.
@@TheAutoSurgeon door lights ( puddles lights ) M logo one M is already 99% Faded . Gen One controllers are Black which you can find in now very cheap Gen 2 are transparent one and the now gen 3 Orange controllers those are expensive but really good like communication problems with your cellphone app connection time and as well as sync between all door controllers like when you change color they will change together with in mili seconds gen 1 long trem use can’t sync properly when changing color through app and as well as connection not fast as before. 60% customers complain so gen 2 came out then gen 3 came out ( at present)
The M logo puddle lights were off of Amazon, they’re not part of the kit. But that’s interesting to know. I haven’t had an issue with this ambient lighting kit yet, the app connection and synchronization is solid, from my experience.
