I was fortunate, as a child my parents played records all the time. I was exposed to the greats early on. Frankie Ford, Ray Charles, Elvis, Fats Domino, and all of the Motown recording artists. I knew all the songs word for word by the 3rd grade and sing in my living room after school.

I'm very sorry to see people arguing about Lew versus Jimmy. They are two very distinct kinds of voices, and some people like one and some like the other. The thing we have to remember is that Lew started them out with Flowers, but Jimmy extended their career even longer than Lew was there with more songs and more top hits. And he today in his solo career never fails to give Lew credit for recommending him. Keep in mind that Jimmy was with them for over 20 years of award-winning music. If they had not found him, we probably would have lost the Brothers. As Jimmy often notes, "It was a God thing" for him AND for them.

This song is my official song for the week. After 14 years of putting up with a volatile employee, who, when she wasn’t melting down in on her occupation temper tantrums, was as good at her job as anyone else in town. But over the last three months, she has become so unpredictable that I was really concerned about whether she would be able to control her temper if a client was in the office. So last week I decided to propose a gradual reduction in her work schedule, leading to her leaving on the anniversary of her starting to work. Well, that wasn’t something she was interested in, so she ranted awhile at me over the phone. After a while, after she wore herself out and hung up on me. So I sat quietly at my desk, trying to gather my thoughts and evaluate my feelings. After a few minutes, my assistant yelled across the hall and asked if I was okay. To answer her, I pulled up this video and played at top volume. And I heard through the door her delighted laughter. And we both knew that everything was going to be alright.

Paulette wanted Roger Miller to cameo in this video. She got her wish. Justin Tubb had already passed away. As Roger was one of the writing duo, he gladly accepted. Paulette and Highway 101 should have been as big as Brooks and Dunn. They were that good.
