    Whats the difference between counties and quickie?

    • @peterwalters5888
      @peterwalters5888 Před 8 měsíci

      counties is in effect a quickie run from a 32 platform where the attacking middle moves towards his link, dumps the ball on his opposing middle and splits infield with his link as dummyhalf. Quickies can be run from all ruck platforms 21, 32 and 33 but are generally run from a 33 platform.

    could u guys do a tutorial/drills on how to palm the ball better? from your videos I see that the young kids with small hands are able to do it so well but I can't seem to palm the ball (depends on the individual ball, and it's easier to palm the ball in the rain when it's wet).. I feel like it's an important skill as it allows more mobility/flexibility in movement and enables a sharper dive

    Fella's ....really good to see the different progressions of the play. My only question.... is Manu's play the ball considered legal? I see it more and more at the top level where there is no effort to put the trailing leg over the ball. For me it would be a change of possession each time. Cheers

    • @sportcoach9429
      @sportcoach9429 Před 2 lety

      Good question and one I feel compelled to reply to as many of our subscribers will want to know. The main theme is around what are best practices (stepping off the ball) and how can players achieve this. The rules are clear(must step over the ball) however the interpretations can vary depending on the level being played, the accepted conventions of the area, the referees and then the situation. Consider the following: I touched him before he put the ball down, that pass was forward, he held me, that touch was too heavy, he hooked me, that was a swipe, etc. In each scenario the player decides what practices to use and the referee determines if it is acceptable. Personally, I believe it is important that the players intention is to genuinely improve their own game(like stepping off the ball quickly) as opposed to disadvantaging others(raking the ball out, professional fouls). To answer your question. Yes what Manu demonstrates would likely be legal in the games and competitions he plays in.

    • @Scorcher62
      @Scorcher62 Před 2 lety

      @@sportcoach9429 ... thanks for the reply. I understand where you are coming from with regard to your scenerios mentioned. From a spectators point of view (I watch a lot of NSW Prem League games), it has been interesting to see the progressive change in recent years where the balance appears to have shifted to a "Let the game flow" style as managed by the top grade ref's, which in turn has seen, from my personal view, a deterioration in basics such as legal roll balls & forward passes from the ruck. I'm not sure where the balance lies... I'm just glad I'm not a ref! Cheers

    • @sportcoach9429
      @sportcoach9429 Před 4 lety

      Sequencing is when your attack conditions the defence to operate a certain way. An example is you have a repeat set of six touches on their scoreline. Your sequence is a Quickie Out then a Quickie In then a Quickie Bounce whereby conditioning the link defenders to squeeze in tight to defend the first two Quickies then you bounce your Link outside their squeezed in link on the next play.
