After leaving our stay along the Coral Coast, we make a few pit stops a long the way to deliver food, try to pick up a Fiji driver's license, buy some fruits, and even stop off to have lunch at a resort. It's back to Nadi to recoup a bit before we head out for some private time on Plantation Island.

We got to visit Rugby Town ("where all the great Fijian rugby players come out of") and we later ran up the famous sand dunes where the Fiji rugby team trains. Afterwards, we did the famous Sigatoka River Safari, Ed was elected chief to represent our group, and we visited a wonderful village along the river, Vunaqoru. #travel #travelvlog #adventure #marriedlife #rugby #fiji

The girls got to get some spa time in while Ed and his dad went to see the hospital Ed was born at [see our youtube short on this]. Then we got visit a museum all about Fiji!!!! Typically we only get to see small exhibits of Fiji at other museums, so this was a treat 😌 And when we got to Korotongo, Alexis could not hold back her tears... #adventure #beach #fiji #travel #marriage #family

The rest and relaxation was much needed for us at the Dreamview Villas in Volivoli. We decided to take another trip to Rakiraki while it was raining. The Duadua Beach Resort was a neat place to stop off for some cocktails. Someone educated us about kava along the way and we got to check out the Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel. #travel #adventure #kava #fiji #scenicviews

Day 5 of the Fiji trip and we are enjoying our stay at the Dreamview Villas in Volivoli. We visit Rakiraki town and even get a chance to stop by Ratu Udre Udre's grave... he reportedly ate some 872 people but most believe the count to be closer to 99. 😮 Let us know in the comments about a shocking fact you learned from somewhere you visited! For day 4 of our Fiji trip, we leave Tavua to head off to God's country... aka Vatukoula (a goldmine town). It's there that we get to see where Ed lived and his dad grew up. Before we finally make it to to the Dreamview Villas in Rakiraki, we stop off at Golden Point Resort for a late lunch (The food and views are incredible and worth checking out!). The museum was fun. I was told there used to be more historic pieces there, but after the coup much went missing. I don't know how accurate that statement was but we were glad to finally explore a Fijian museum all about Fiji! - Ed

FYI : The Fijian blood thru science supports the history that you read at the museum. If you google: DNA admixture of the Fijians….. It will say Asians and 30% Melanesian. Polynesians also have some Melanesian in them. Fijians are Polynesian because they speak the same language as the Polynesians ( austranesian language) and their blood shows it . Fijians are the original Polynesians.

I do remember your house was the last one in that row of houses and one of your neighbors were the Mullers who are our cousins. My name is Frank Bing and we lived towards the end of the dead end road that branched off towards the river up from where your house was. Our immediate neighbors were the McGoon, Osborne, Lockington, Wye. Thanks for sharing your trip to Vatukoula as it brought back fond memories of our very simple but happy life growing up there. My beautiful rakiraki,i grew up in fsc lane and had best moments during childhood,that fsc river was our snack shop,from fish,prawns to eels , you name it you get it in abundance....lots of love from nz,KAI RA.
