    The problem is when the PARENT has the separation anxiety lol.

    Thats the key. Keeping it basic, simple, fun and instructional. My mother would insist a 3 yr old adhere to the equivalent of sorting lego by colour and size, scrub each one and then put it away in individual tubs and never tell you thats what she wanted. Apparently all you need to teach is watch mum and never ask questions. Adults very rarely even do that level of cleaning and organising, why tf would you hold toddlers to something adults dont do?!. Class chores and responsibilities on age and skill level, not an over controlling adult that borders on OCD skill with no ability to teach.

    Kids will always push you as far as you will let them push you. Always make sure that kids know the consequences for not listening.

    I was raised by an abusive parent, so I, unfortunately, mostly experienced screaming, constant overwhelm, & not much else. (Not looking for sympathy. It is what it is. I'm just pointing out that this was a 180 degree difference for me.) The way you just put this made my brain explode. Thank you for your perspective. ❤ *I'm also AuDHD, & your approach would've been perfect for me.

    As an occasional daycare worker, I really appreciate parents like you. It genuinely makes the transition so much easier on the child. They cry for a few minutes and then are distracted and happy in the next.

    It’s challenging as I only need to leave my little one at childcare at church but they won’t take her if she’s crying so I wish I could do this. :(

      I would never deny a child just for crying lol. And I've worked in church nurseries plenty of times. I would take a crying kid, reassure their mom, and send them on their way.

    I let my 20 month old help with whatever she can. She brings forks, spoons and napkins to the table every meal time we have at home. She puts dirty clothes in the hamper. And we let her have a turn cleaning up her tray after a meal. And we give her lots of praise when she helps. Firmly believe in letting her do what she can.

    • @chelsey8737
      @chelsey8737 Před 17 hodinami

      Exactly! She might always not do it right or very efficiently but she's doing a good job! Little babies trying so hard to help is the most precious thing ever I swear ❤

    My toddler loves to "help"😂 though it is not very practical most of the time... but she has picked up some helpful habits like putting away toys or putting her rubbish in the trash for me (empty yogurt pouches, dirty diapers etc). Mostly it is just play for her. She loves wiping up messes and sweeping but is less successful at these tasks. She wants to help wash her dishes sometimes too so I let her do a small bit before she gets too distracted by the temptation of water play. I think she is still a bit young now but maybe I will give her a few formal chores next year when she is closer to four.

    I would get bullied and lectured for 1-5 HOURS- for doing something as simple as rolling my eyes. I remember being up at 5 am with the sun starting to light the sky at 6 years old - thinking this can’t be normal.

    Thats just being dismissive 💀 no wonder you talk so agressively abt your kid self. She didnt teach you solutions but passively shamed you💀 it worked and now you pretend like its not just mean. You got slight bullying at home and call it leadership💀

    I really relate to the no-nonsense energy, and I love it ❤✋ You're absolutely right ... The issue is really me: I'm tired/ burntout + losing my temper/ allowing them to offend me, my reaction is only rewarding the bad behaviour + doing nothing but make us all feel bad. If I could make it a habit to just let the crap roll off, and zero in on the good stuff, perhaps my mood will change too... ❤ I'll try!

    I was a climber. My late 1980s crib was no march for me. My parents have laughed at how they "locked me in my room" and "We had to put the lock on the outside of the door to keep you in." They laugh about it openly. It's one of those stories that when you first tell the story yourself, thinking haha it must be a funny antidote," that you realize, no... no, it is not a cute funny story. My toddler is already getting a vasty different upbringing than i had. I've recently gone "low" contact with my parents and sister. It's better for everyone.

    At age 3, I was home alone with my Grandma while single mom was at work and 2 siblings at school. I emptied 3 bedroom small wastebaskets in main garbage on Mondays, handed her clothespins and put dry socks in basket. I made money! 3 cents! Got a raise when I turned 4! To 4 cents😂

    Not evety child is same. My girl is extremely hyper active & rejects going down even if shes yawning multiple times. Bedtime was the most difficult task for me. I still co sleep with my 2.7 months old toddler, sometimes she sleeps with her dad in his room. I did the same thing with her during the initial days ... I closed all window curtains , lights switched off and our room locked. Initially she used to throw tantrums, tries to sneak away from the room 😂 but now she doesn't as she knows bedtime means she has to sleep anyway. She has changed now. I am happy 😊
