Is it just me, or do placepots never seem to pay as much as they used to since betfred took over the tote ? Also I remember when I first started betting if I was betting a horse @16/1 or more I'd often bet it on the tote as well because a lot of the time, you'd beat the odds and a 16/1 winner might pay £18.20 or something on the tote although sometimes it might only pay 14.12 or whatever. Nowadays, even a 150/1 winner will return £151 on the tote. Statistically, it should be impossible for almost every race to return the same as SP on the tote. If you checked back racing results from pre betfred tote days and compared to now, you'd notice a massive difference. I usually only do placepots at bigger meetings, and my strategy is to try and not pick favourites.

Good video, flat horse for me, handicap hurdles hard to predict, chases are better over jumps, but less runners in flat race. Don't like backing bottom weights has they are the worst horse in the race according to weight. I don't like backing in more than 8 runner races, if I do, then smaller stakes. Also try and find a good favourite in a race. (Easier said than done!) Only time the bookies lose if a favourite wins. If you find an odds on shot say 4/6 but you can get evens that is still value, some people won't back them, but a short price winners is better than a long price loser. Cheers 👍
