    Wonderful video! Made my first sip!!! Wondering though, how much do you water at one time? My understanding is you don't want the bottom completely full of water. Also, more out of curiousity... how often do you water in vegas? Any insight would be a blessing!!! Thank you!

    I'm looking for a Vegas valley house with a food forest. Realtors tell me they can't help me because people don't report their fruit trees, even when they do, the listers don't list it because "no one cares about that stuff".

    • @shotgunbettygaming
      @shotgunbettygaming Před 9 měsíci

      Not that no one doesn't care about it, but it's an impermanent part of a property. It has no genuine bearing on value because it can all be gone in one passing of a season. Why waste the time of listing productive trees if they're potentially GONE by the time a person interested in them sees the listing? It's waste of time to include trivial things in the listings, the agents have HUNDREDS of properties they manage and cannot be expected to maintain the information for impermanent features. Moving on to the fact that the great majority of HOA's do NOT allow multiple kinds of plants, trees and will flat out disallow gardening in front yards. There are VERY restricted lists of what is allowed and most of them must be drought tolerant. This also lends to the idea that just because someone has planted a Food Forest, doesn't mean they knew what they were doing. A great deal of Permies never consider native plants to their region, they tend to consider what they WANT to grow and eat, not what they SHOULD be growing in this climate (or any climate) and our lack of water. Food Forests are personal things. You're never going to find a listing on a property that is designed the way you want if you want a Food Forest waiting for you when you get there.

      @1voluntaryist Před 9 měsíci

      @@shotgunbettygaming Obviously you are not familiar with fruit tree cultivation. Many take years before they fruit, and require unique attention, e.g., prep of the space to accommodate survival until they are well established. This comes only after research, experimentation, time/money. Why bother? 1. Higher quality, better tasting fruit. 2. Big food saving. 3. Food unavailable, at any price. 4. Food independence. 5. A PERMANENT resource. Established trees develop roots that reach down to aquifers. This makes them drought tolerant. A unique growing environment will allow maximum use of space. I would NEVER let an HOA dictate how I live on my land. Nor will I find appreciation for intelligent living requirements by ignorant, lazy realtors.

    I love kumquats! The trees are among the most cold hardy citrus. The fruits are SO full of sweet tart flavor. And I figure they must be exceptionally nutritious since you eat the rind and pith and all. I’m growing several varieties in the high desert of SoCal zone 8b, most of them ordered online from California based Four Winds Growers.

    I'm very impressed with your figs. I'm also in Las Vegas. I had a question. I have the option to buy a one gallon Black Madeira KK for $50 and a Figo Presto for $70 also on 1 gallon. Which would you recommend? I hear they're practically identical, just that the Presto is sturdier and grows faster. And also would you say those prices are a good deal?

  • @cristhianzerimar

    So how long would you recommend having figs in gallons before going to the ground here in Las Vegas? A certain amount of time or until they're big enough to go in a certain gallon container?
