@@Roland_Rohrle does it have an analogue bypass switch built in or is it a permanent conversion like an FT-Slottechnik one? Does it do pace car and ghost car? How small is it? Can I test one ? .. and other questions

@@slotr The current versions (self install and DPR type) are a permanent solution, but I believe Steve’s planning one that will have a jumper plug to bypass to analogue. He has quite a few variations to pursue. I’d have to dig through our message history but it’s about the size of a Carson. I have one here installed in my Policar 412P, but since unpacking it from returning from Thailand (I ran it there on a mates D132 track) I’ve put it somewhere safe. As soon as I find, I’ll open it up and share a pic. Yes, we’re going to send you one to test. All the best Roland

Thanks Steve, Yes. I've been choking sets for many years now, since I discovered it on a limited Artin 1/43 set many years ago. Hoping to take some cars with me this weekend and run some more time trials, whilst I'm there.

G'day Ron, Thank you for reaching out. Steve Rosse is an inspiration... We still live and work in Sydney Australia, but we also have a place in rural Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand. We generally go there every 6 months or so for a month, as we're nearing retirement ourselves. Hua Hin would be very nice, we plan to visit there too. I already have my standard Artin 4 lane set there, up and running in the basement there. I just paid an extra USD$150 and packed 2 suitcases of track, cars, extra controllers, parts etc and a bag of tool for our old car over there. 46 kilo's (202lbs) in 2 suitcases with Scoot Airlines 😅 I would suggest transporting your sets in excess luggage if at all possible. I had all my receipts etc ready to pay duty at Chiang Mai airport, but they just waved me through... I'm gradually editing a detailed video on the building of that circuit. I may look at overweight luggage costs; since mailing a secure container 40”x18”x24” containing a max of 70# of slot car gear would cost at least $1000. I recently saw a Slot car track on a You Tube channel at an open air University market in Bangkok. How rare are slot car tracks in Thailand)? Are there any commercial wood tracks?

@ronkeeney1752 I'm not aware of any commercial tracks in Thailand. Apparently there's a private club south of Bangkok from memory, but that's all that I've heard of. The hobby isn't supported by retailers at all due to high import duties. Some people who travel go to the Carrera dealer in Singapore.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it. Problem was the track was stored in a unsealed box in the balcony for over 4 years. The track had dusted up badly. It's still coming off every time I clean it 😅

For track cleaning, I use a dry swifter cloth on an extension pole to reach all the way around the track. It works great for "daily" dusting. If I haven't used the rack for a few weeks, then sometimes I use a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and distilled water lightly sprayed on a microfiber cloth block (I think the 1:1 scale car detailers use them for applying wax). People will tell you water is bad, I understand that. I only lightly dampen the sponge. Anyway, I have had good luck for 9 years on my permanent payout.

@chrish8645 I too use a little water. I use a damp microfibre cloth that's been rinsed in hot water with a few drops of dishwashing liquid. I then spray a little lubricating contact cleaner or Reductuer H72 onto a dry cloth and give the rails a quick wipe. Occasionally, I give the braids on 1 car a drop of Reducteur or braid juice and just do 5 laps...

G'day Mark, I've not heard of Carrera 1/50 scale. However, they used to produce Profi 1/40 scale, which was slightly bigger than 1/43 scale. It'd be a tight fit, and I'm not sure if the current limiting circuit in the connection straight will like the bigger motors. I have one somewhere. I'll try it one day...

Thanks much for the quick reply and apologies for delayed response! I did try to run carrera and scx 1/32 on the fast lane track but it barely moved! So fail in that. Still trying to source an eldon car as online sellers are asking ridiculous prices (100 bucks) for one car 😂! I think eldon car motors are less powerful and look very similar to the 1/43 fast lane car motors. Will def keep you posted!

Thanks for your kind comments. You could just use the power and control from a Carrera Evolution set, as it unscrews from the track and the wiring un plugs from under the rails. Perhaps look for a cheap second hand Carrera Evolution set on Facebook Marketplace etc... Let me know if you have any further questions. All the best Roland Sydney Australia

Possibly not worth the effort/headache…

The Scalextric cars in the video where straight out of the box with the traction magnet still in place. The Carrera GO controller is the current electronic type and I didn't use the turbo button. The control box was all I had at the time, it can run on batteries or power supply. It's power delivery is the same as the current electronic versions in most current GO sets.
