I skate and I prefer shorts instead. It is very hot in my city and shorts feel better for the climate. Also, I don't knwo why, but it never hurts when the board hits my shin. If u really want to protect your legs, wear shin guards

Poor way to describe the protection. Not necessarily for slamming your shin, more for when you slide on your knees. Jeans are cut resistant so it avoids a lot of road rash incidents.
