    Positively brilliant! One small suggestion. Folks like me should use a level on the piece of wood to make sure the wood being drilled is level. If not level, your eye hook trick would not work. But again; brilliant!

    You stir the product. Food safe top oil. No sanding required. Could of just cleaned with wash and wax. Osmo wax oil is the Armani of natural wood finishes. Apply thin. Professional use only.

    I mean, I can tell you didn't hit the second one as hard as the first one. Also, the dominos aren't strengthening the glue-line as much as they are strengthening the whole area of where they join up. Due to the dominos grain direction going perpendicular to the wood, of course it adds shear strength, just not in the way you thought when you made this video.

    Thank you for your insights, I use this product and have had some success, I found that leaving the finish to cure for a month then buffing gives a deep lustre and a very natural feel to the surface , all the best from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤝.

    Hello. I live in Virginia. I have a large ~6 foot tall cabinet made from pre blight chestnut. It’s about 3 feet wide and about 3 feet deep. Maybe slightly larger. The planks are big. Minimum of 16” wide and probably just over an inch thick. The planks still have the rough sawmill marks where they were cut. In the 90s a furniture shop tried to buy the cabinet from my dad for 3k but he turned them down. It was made by my great grandfather long long ago. I think the wood is the true value but not really sure about this stuff. I’m willing to let it go cheap to someone who would either cherish it or that would put the wood to,good use. If anybody is interested... reply to me and we can share contact information. Thank you very much

    Sent to the kiln .. I supposed the inherent humidity in your environment reflects into the wood, even if you've harvested the wood from inside an old dry building. I just figured that the wood would already be dry enough, but I guess flooring needs to be down to about 6% ??

    Hey yall, I'm doing the same this but just for myself. I noticed yall glued all the dominos and the breadboard itself to the body of the top... do you not need to account for expanding and contracting of the flooring when you adhere it to the plywood subflooring?

  • @ofearthfurniture
    @ofearthfurniture Před 3 lety

    That did not hold up whatsoever!! Lol What a terrible result after only 3 months. Thanks for sharing how awful OSMO really is! That stuff is also full of solvents and poisonous hardeners. Definitely should be wearing gloves and a mask for applying. Really bad idea to be applying IN the restaurant with patrons present. You need to try Odie’s Oil. All natural, solvent free and truly food safe. Will last many many years on a restaurant table without needing service.

    • @tylersmith9868
      @tylersmith9868 Před 3 lety

      Think about it. He applied it totally wrong, used way too much. Used an abrasive pad. Wiped with a damp cloth. Then I guarantee you they put that table back into service right after this video. The product needs like 14 days at least to cure maybe longer. If they applied it correctly, sparingly, only use a non abrasive pad to apply and buff at the same time that's it. One very light coat, wait 24 hours. 2nd very light coat. Then wait 14+ days to properly cure it would have held up much better. Still not the right product for this application, a restaurant table gets worn literally 1000x faster than a familys dinner table for example. What a stupid video
