I'm genuinely curious. I understand the hate for Dockside but people will defend rhystic and smothering? Dockside comes in and most of the time wins instantly with a payoff or the very next turn. Rhystic/smothering punishes the entire table for drawing cards and casting spells through either slowing down by having to pay OR boosting the player using them but not an all out win right away.

The card is so good, even Arin Hanson won a game because of it

Honestly, all it needs to be decent in my mind is an upkeep trigger like almost all other conditional win the game effects. That’d make it infinitely more reasonable

Id say its close. The win lines i can think of are just pretty expensive, and easily stoppable. Super high power casual? I think yes. Cedh? Almost. But barely not close enough.

I love the concept of how many different pairings there are from Dr Who cards, truly. My baby of a deck, is a Timey Whimey precon I immediately converted into a Timey WHAMMY deck. I cut Rose, swapped in Tegan, butchered the deck, put in Jeskai creatures that have ETB and Attack triggers, with a sub theme of historics to ensure tegans protection is somewhat useful and BLAM I have what my friends call my scariest deck. She’s my pride and joy, and I’d like to preach about her to the world. I don’t bring my deck up to talk about my stuff, but more so reaffirm the awesomeness that is the variety of pairings the Dr Who set gave us. Also this deck of yours is KILLER and I think it’s super strong.

I really don't like this, it sets a precedent for compartmentalizing the different tribes of MTG; leading to much less overall flavor and mechanical diversity. Also it makes no fucking sense, we're really just going to say the Cephalids of New Capenna, for example, are just octopi? They're socially advanced, highly intelligent creatures. If we're gonna do this, why not just go the whole way and classify all the humans as apes; because it makes about as much sense honestly.

My commander deck revolves around getting ad nauseum early, and getting my whole deck into my hand because the entire mana value of the deck is is 49. Then play mana bonds, dryad of ilysian grove, Valakut molten pinnacle, and vesuva as a copy of valakut.....gg, table is dead.
