Let's just imagine 1 gigawatt as a normal project size, that means 1.2 million solar panels, 80 wind turbines, that means 3000 km of cables, 100000 tons of steel, and where will the scrap go, after 30 years? Will the Namibian desert then become a scrap heap? How is the disposal planned?

".......The hydrogen project will have significant gains for Namibia if implemented properly. However, we can already see problems because the executive gave land to Hyphen without the authorization of the Traditional Authorities and the local government. The plant will be constructed on ancestral land and in a nature conservation park. None of the natives were consulted except for the governor. The expected time of execution is premature and Namibia will not benefit much from this project. The 15000 jobs that they claim to provide will only be at unskilled levels as it is a highly technical industry. An influx of foreigners will be expected to take all the jobs and there is no guarantee of skills transfer. The current scholarships are not given to the inhabitants of this region, so one can expect total exclusion of the native inhabitants from the benefits of that hydrogen plant, a replica of the current status quo. It's just ridiculous!........"
