So contender defense are Hutson-Reinbacher Ghule-Mailloux Xhekaj-?
@StrongHabs25 for now that's what it looks lik
@habsunfiltered Picasso, I like it
thye need to trade out bad contracts before signing anyone, too much deadwood on the roster still
Great episode guys
@@ryanbakker3668 Thank you!
Thanks for the content Gents! 🔥
@Off_Grid_Gaming Thank you for following the show!
I’m sorry but that take at the end about getting brossiot and trading primeau is complete insanity. Why on earth would we trade our young goalie who showed major strides last season and now he can finally have a full nhl season as a back up just to sign a journeyman goalie in his 30’s…. Sorry but makes 0 sense
I don't think is necessary to bring up french players and former Habs EVERY offseason.. Hughes is going young, goaltending as well, he's not going to stunt Primeau's growth. More games equal more consistently. When Fowler's ready in a couple years Primeau can be a good asset. Remember he was a seventh round pick.
There will always be a local kid added to the team somewhere. Sometimes they're actually filling a need too. Agreed on Primeau
@@habsunfiltered I can see a half dozen locals added to the Laval roster but I doubt the big club will add much. Another good draft next summer plus alot of veteran contracts expiring, makes more sense to wait till next summer. Plus the demigod will be coming in. Fans might be impatient this year but management has repeatedly said they don't listen to outside noise, I think that's smart. Play the long game.
Since center to wing is the easiest transition and MTL’s injury history. Wouldn’t it be good to load up on centers, put some on the wing now you have plug and play talent up the middle? Is that maybe the strategy?
as a draft strat4egy, it seems to be, unless it's someone like a Demidov
Joshua Roy was a Bergevin pick.
He 100% was. But he's an example of a tth rd pick being a prospect with legit NHL hope
I think they were looking at 3 guys at 21, Eiserman, Boisvert and Hage. Hage was the only one left at 21 and I love this pick...speedy, skilled center.
The rumour mill is spewing Hage was above Eiserman on their list. Who really knows but I like Hage over Eiserman.
DemiGod! 🔥
Who the hell is sinniac? Get ur names right if u wanna be credible
Please don't take anything button says as gospel.
Sin, e , ak. Really? I'm for Lindstrom, alright. Iginla, not so much.
Montreal has a lot of defensemen but none of them are genuine top#1 defender like a Buium, Levshunov or even Dickinson. Is Iginla worth a top1 defenseman even if he is a futur 30 goal scorer??? However, Demidov, Lindstrom and even Sennecke are possibly futur NHL stars...time will tell. But I agree, Iginla is a very safe pick !!!
Your D opinion has some merit. I pick Sennecke over Iginla. Personally.
@@francoisbouvier7861 I agree, me too...however, Iginla appears to be a very safe pick so I would understand if they were to pick him but I still believe they want Lindstrom or Demidov. Senecke or Iginla would likely be plan "B" for them.
@powers1500 I prefer Senecke over Iginla. Maybe it's having lived in Calgary over Dad's career? I don't know. As a lifelong Habs fan, I'm interested, but no expert by any means.
I doubt Demidov will be there ar 5, nice to dream though. Fingers, eyes and toes crossed?
Nice my fav team
Blain, do you think Dobes will be our #1 in the future?
Seems like the team and caufield himself are being a little cautious with his shoulder and what a great time to work on his play making game which will make him more of a threat next year and less predictable. The fact that caufield is on his way to play all 82 games and you can add slaf to that list is a great achievement and very encouraging.
Love the podcast boys. Keep it up! 🔥
Blain, I listen to a lot of Habs podcasts and you're my favourite
Thank you, Blain appreciates that compliment

I'm excited for the draft, What trades Hughes will pull ioff to fill the second line Hoping they sign Monahan as a Free agent If all this happens, next year could be special.
Savard is expendable but Matheson isn't????The left side prospects are far more advanced!!!
There are no rumours involving Montreal . I don’t expect any trades on Friday
Cmon guys get to it
Never apologized for your own opinions Guy's, it's your podcast, if people don't like it , don't watch it , I learn my lesson at that, I don't apologized for my opinions. Yes. They were lazy, lazy and biased . Trolls will be trolls 🧌, they have nothing else better to do , they in their parents basement , trolling other fan bases ,
I have another way to look at the Mitchkov ordeal. Mitchkov IMO will be BETTER than Newhook MUCH better than Newhook well management went out of their way to give up a first and second to get Newhook nut never took a better talent in Mitchkov that he could draft for FREE we didn't have to give anything up to get Mitchkov. I don't put labels on players "generation" means little to me instead I would call Mitchkov an offensive talent. I have one more angle to add to this everyone is all high fives on Caufield and Suzuki BOTH are small BOTH are not good two way players ALWAYS MINUS players. So why are there EXCUSES for not taking Mitchkov when all those same excuses management and fans have appplauded when it is not Mitchkov I see a LOT of hypocrisy.
Solo power! 🔥 Thank you! Love the podcast.
Hard to trade Monahan if Dvorak is hurt.
Why's that? Makes no difference
Not really. He can be traded and replaced by a call up player. Not his ability, just his roster spot. The team won't be a playoff team so best to keep rebuilding
@habsunfiltered My thoughts exactly. It would make the team weaker if anything And solidify that top 10, maybe even top 5 pick. This team lacks elite talent and I for one would love to draft a Cayden Lindstrom.
how are things?,Omg,you did awesome ,
"promosm" ✔️
Oh buttercup.
Great podcast! Just disagree about Josh Anderson. I think he looks out of place on every line. He is not a playmaker, he struggles to hit the net, I just don't see his value beyond a 4th line forchecker.
I agree. I feel like Anderson should not be on 1st PP or top line. I would love to see Slafkovsky put there instead. Slafkovsky had a couple giveaways, hes young and will learn but he is a great playmaker. If not for Anderson not being able to score on breakaways, Slafkovsky would have 3 or 4 more assists.
We wouldn't go as far to say that. He's a middle 6 winger who is best used on a line that needs speed on a wing for Breakouts and on the forecheck
@@Off_Grid_Gaming we agree. PP? No
@@habsunfiltered There was a point in time that he was a middle 6 forward, i just think that time has passed. We will see how this season plays out.
@Erik-ms3du while we still feel he's a middle six we also think it's about time to trade him
Thanks for the great Habs content! Stay safe out there! ❤

I like the Trudeau - Kovacevic comparison. Trudeau should get some games with the Canadiens this season.
They threw Mailloux to the wolves in game one, idk how you can say he played "like shit" without context SMH
just tank it boys
Would have liked to see both Engstrom and Kapanen at the rookie camp. I am assuming neither are there because the European season is underway and both will have increased roles with Rogle and KalPa.
I think the Habs should send some draft picks to live with the Xhekaj family, momma Xhekaj must be feeding them something special. Maybe Lane Hutson could live with them for a summer.
Kostitsyn brothers… not that long ago.
The canadiens put in a claim on montembeault, no reason to assume another bottom team wouldn't put one in on primeau.
The reasons MTL made that claim were because they had 1 goalie. Chances are Primeau passes thru, but the chances aren't zero
I think DeSmith would be perfect with VAN as a 1B to Demko. He's a way better backup than what they have now. And Silovs might need another year before the big show
Although rather convoluted with Petry, the Matheson return was a win. No more Hoffman was a gift. Adam Engstrom will figure in the defensive mix come 24-25.
After listening to Jeff Gorton on the Knuckles pod cast discussing Tom Wilson tossing around Artemi Panarin when Jeff was with the Rangers. It didn't sound like he was going to allow that to happen again. So I don't think Arber Xhekaj is going anywhere, he will be the Montreal sheriff for years to come. He brings the toughness that no one else can.
That is an important aspect. Xhekaj is also not just a fighter so he is highly useful
the volume level of your publicity in the podcast format is way too high, its not good for people who had too many head injuries.outside of that great job guys
Petry was on pace for another 40+ point season with the Pens over a full season.
It was said for Logan Mailloux needs Gary Betman's approuval to play pre-seasons games.
That is highly likely
A HUGE thank you to Laura for joining us. Anyone watching absolutely should go check out @LockedOnCanadiens
I wonder with Beck, since he can't play at Laval if he doesn't make the Canadiens out of camp and has to go back to the OHL, would a season in Europe, perhaps Switzerland, be something to consider. He seems like a smart kid that might benefit from the entire experience, plus he could earn some money as a professional.
Europe is am interesting thought, but it does seem like junior is the path for him at this pt
Seems to me that it might be a wasted development year, a bit like Mesar in the OHL when I thought he would be better off spending last season at Laval. I am concerned that there is a lot of underestimation of what these European draft picks can offer, having played in professional leagues in their draft year. I wouldn't be surprised if Beck impresses at training camp again, yet there is no spot for him. I say let him play professionally and earn some money.
@curtisault2508 Mesar's time in the OHL wasn't a waste. It forced him to expand his game to allow him to carry that team. Helping it limp into the playoffs then he outplayed a powerhouse and led a team that should have been dead last win a round in the playoffs. It's more than points. He also got to spend a year adjusting to rink size and north American style of hockey with zero pressure
Yes, "wasted year" was unfortunate wording, I perhaps should have phrased that better. You do have a point as well on Mesar being allowed to acclimate to North America out of the Montreal limelight. With Beck, I think the preference would be for him to play in Laval, however that won't be possible. I do have a question in which I'm not sure of the answer. Would loaning Beck to a European club for next season burn a year of his ELC? If so, I could see the Canadiens leaning towards another season in the OHL.
@curtisault2508 Beck isnt eligible to play in the AHL this season, and it's a murky call on the Beck to Europe question. It may seem like a step forward, but it's a lateral move, kinda. One more yr in Jr's may seem like a plateau, but it did wonders for Suzuki
